Dining at Auberge in Tooley Street was a thoroughly bad experience. We should have known things would not go well when we had to wait several minutes for someone to greet us when we first arrived. Things went from bad to worse. To be fair the food wasn't bad, but spoiled by being served on cold plates, there is a long walk from the kitchen to the tables so our supposedly hot meals were only luke warm on arrival. But, the worst aspect of the evening was the terrible service The waiter forgot to bring the chips that accompanied our mains and not only had to be reminded, but it took a good deal of effort just to get his attention so we could point out the problem. Needless to say, no one came to check if everythig was ok. The same problem occurred with an extra glass of wine that was ordered, although this was offered for free when its non arrival was pointed out. Strenuous efforts and a great deal of patience had to be employed to order after dinner coffees and obtain the bill. When it finally arrived it was wrong and we were overcharged. It was still wrong when we got it back as this time they had overcharged us for the optional 10% service charge. An entirely academic problem as there was no way we were leaving tip. Won't be going back here.

Our trip to Auberge was a disappointing experience all round. There was a wait even before we were asked what we wanted to drink. They then took our order of soup for a starter - which they came back to tell us had run out (it was only 7.15pm on a Tuesday) so we both ordered a duck starter - which turned up cold.

I ordered the chicken as a main - which they then came back to tell me had run out as well. So, I opted for the spinach and ricotta ravioli. When the mains arrived they gave me lasanga instead. When I mentioned I asked for the ravioli they took my lasanga away then came back 10 mins later and said I would have to wait another for 30 mins for the ravioli.

We asked for the bill and left straight away after paying. We were not even offered a discount of any sort. We were not impressed with the experience and it ruined the entire evening for both of us who rarely see each other during the week. I do not recommend Auberge.

Auberge just changed hands so I'll be holding back on my opinion for now. I used to really enjoy a few beers at Auberge, I hope it continues. Though I think my wife has other ideas!

I've never had a bad meal at Auberge. They do delicious French food in there that's not very healthy but is extremely enjoyable!

Auberge is definitely one for people who like good food.
