The ViewLondon Review
Walk down the steps of Balls Brothers Bishopsgate to get away from the busy city life, and enter a relaxed atmosphere full of friendly faces. The VenueSituated across the road from Liverpool Street Station, amongst various bars and restaurants, Balls Brothers Bishopsgate is in a prime location. The very spacious bar has a wooden and marble decor of tables, chairs, flooring and bar tops. You have the choice of sitting by the bar, beside one of the many tables, or beside the high ledges located near the entrance. There are also cosy, intimate corners and a private room, secluded from the main seating area.
The AtmosphereCity slickers are the main clientele for Balls Brothers Bishopsgate, so it gets busy from 5pm onwards for the after-work drinks crowd. There is quite a relaxed atmosphere, filled with plenty of chatter from customers. The bar staff are friendly and bring your drinks over to you, unlike most bars where you have to get your own. During the day, it is less quiet, so is a good place to have informal meetings.
The FoodUnlike most bars, there is a vast amount of food on offer here, from the usual nuts and crisps, to stuffed olives, main meals of fish and meat, and a selection of cheese. Prices are quite reasonable given the surroundings.
The DrinkWith over 100 different wines to choose from at Balls Brothers Bishopsgate, this is a wine taster’s vineyard, from only £5 a glass. There is not a vast selection of beer - so lager louts you have been warned! If you feel like celebrating, a bottle of Bollinger costs £58.50, and there is a selection of fruity cocktails, as well as Champagne cocktails. Overall, the prices are reasonable – being slightly below average for the area.
The Last WordIf you want a quick drink after work, and you are in the city, pop down to Balls Brothers Bishopsgate for a delightful, mellow evening.
