Went for a special meal after being attracted to the interesting layout, unfortunately this was the only interesting thing about the place. To say the food was bland would be an understatement. Although the starter was ok, the main dish left a funny taste and was pretty much cold. The service left much to be desired, after speaking to three different people about the poor quality of the dish (which was snatched away with the food pretty much untouched) without even asking why this may be we were left waiting until someone returned with our bill and no answers, then they had the cheek to add 12.5% gratitude. Poor food, poor service. Would not recommend!

Went to the Bangalore Express for a colleague's leaving do last week (25/09/09). The food was somewhat bland and odd-tasting and above all, disappointing.

The dishes (Thali) appeared to be a mis-mash of poorly done sauces thrown together on a plate. When the rice is the best tasting article on the plate you know there is something wrong!

To cap it all off they have the cheek to add 12.5% gratuity and what for??! Service was adequate.

This appears to be a classic example of a restaurant surviving off tourist trade rather than returning custom.

I went to this great restaurant for the first time last night, but it won't be the last. They serve up fantastic Indian food with a clever modern twist. Organic ingredients are used wherever possible, and the flavours in the meals we ordered were just delicious. I can personally recommend the vegetarian thali, but my friends were equally happy with their 'design your own curry' chicken jalfezi and lamb calzone. We also loved the chocolate and pistachio fondant pudding even though we hardly had any room left for it - portion sizes are generous and the stylish presentation adds to the experience.

The restaurant design is very non-traditional - the upstairs booths can only be reached by ladder (don't wear a mini-skirt!), and the tableware is stylish modern white ceramic rather than the stainless steel ware so often favoured by many Indian restaurants.

Service was also good - I don't know how the staff manage to get up and down those ladders without accidents but they do! I can heartily recommend this friendly place and will definitely be returning for more.
