The ViewLondon Review
In the heart of Bexley Village, Bar Lorca prides itself on bringing a little bit of the city to suburbia.
The Venue
Recently taken over and restyled, Bar Lorca sets itself apart from the many other pubs in the area with its modern décor and urban feel. The large bar is surrounded by dark wood tables and stools, with a more laid-back sofa area to enjoy to one side - if you get there before the rush. To the other side of the bar, you will see a wall covered in photo frames with pictures of famous people, along with a few of the management thrown in. If you’re feeling philosophical over your drink, take a read through the quotes on the wall behind the bar.
The Atmosphere
During the week, Bar Lorca offers a relaxed place to unwind with an after-work drink but, come the weekend, this place is bustling with people of all ages, ready to party to a good mix of music. The friendly bar staff cope extremely well with the rush and manage to serve everyone with a smile. Bar Lorca offers a place to chat with friends in the early evening and transforms into a great place to meet new ones later on. On a Sunday, they host Live at Lorca, a night that showcases a host of live bands.
The Drink
Bar Lorca has a good cocktail menu, with all the classics on there plus a few with a twist. Try the bar’s self proclaimed favourite, the porn star martini - a blend of vanilla vodka and passion fruit puree, with a shot of prosecco on the side (£7). The white wine list ranges from pinot grigio (£14.50 a bottle) to a white Burgundy (£20 a bottle) and the reds include a merlot (£14.50 a bottle) and a malbec (£20 a bottle). There’s also a good selection of bottled beers, with choices like Becks and Peroni at £3.40 or a few draught beers, from Heineken to Guinness (£3.70 a pint).
The Last Word
There are many pubs in Bexley Village but Bar Lorca does things a little differently and adds a splash of style to the usual night out.
