The Birds Nest is my favourite pub in London. The atmosphere is always comforting, the staff are constantly friendly, fast and welcoming, not to mention extremely good-looking. The selection of bottled ales is unmatched in any London pub. The exterior has had a spruce up recently so you might not recognise it if you haven't been for a while, but the same worn-out carpets and battered furniture simply make the place feel more loved and lived-in. The free live music 4 nights a week is always of the highest standard, varying from heavy punk and roll to neo-classical trad-jazz blues-altocore. Or something. Whatever your tipple or musical tastes there's something for you here.

More locals than visitors here! nice pint though.

(Great review!) I wonder if many other pubs have 'locals' especially in the suburbs of london? Surely the locals are what give the pub character. The pub serves premium beer ales and ciders and your regular lagers too, It's great. Music every weekend. A very alternative night to be had.
