Was at Bluu on Sat night and it was excellent.

The dj upstairs was playing some great tunes that you just don't hear anywhere else. Would highly recommend for their selection of drinks,

We had our work Christmas lunch here and I have to say that it was probably one of the worst lunches that I have had in a long time. The starters came out, which were good - a good selection and well presented. Then came the main courses; some people had ordered the salmon fillet, but instead of receiving this, they got some smoked salmon instead - not quite the same!! The roast dinners were OK, but they were very tight with the vegetables, there was no stuffing, or cranberry sauce. The desserts were terrible - I had a cheesecake, which was bland and the biscuit base was beyond soggy. Overall a very disappointing Christmas lunch and a bit of a waste of £20 to be honest.

Very rude bar staff indeed. This place seems to forget that we are paying (through the nose) customers.

This place had mixed reviews between us, we loved the music and the service was really quick , it was a busy night as well, prices were good too, however we found some of the people pretentious, place crowded and narrow as there are sofas on the right as u come in and tables on the left, it just felt like we couldn't stand anywhere without getting bumped into. Also the bouncers were not very friendly at the doors.

I first went here around 2002/03 when it was a cool bar, and one of only a handful in the Shoreditch area.

Now it feels like a Wetherspoons Lloyds Bar, but more expensive. Also, be prepared for a long wait at the bar.

Don't waste your time at Bluu Bar Hoxton Sq. The staff are useless.
Five of us went to Bluu Bar on Hoxton Square last Saturday and after 30minutes of being blanked by the blond bar lady we left without having a drink. Yes the bar was busy as you would expect on a Saturday night but to be clear none of us were drunk (as this was going to be the first bar of the evening), yes we were dressed in the appropriate trendy manner for Hoxton, others were served before us and none of us are hobbits so she could and did clearly make eye contact with us. Get your staff trained Bluu Bar.

Its been a while since I ventured down Hoxton way, i droped into bluu bar thinking it was still the blue note, what a shock, at first I couldn't believe the old venue had changed hands and was now another faceless bar in shoreditch, how wrong I was!!!! the place instantly felt very welcoming, the staff were all hot!!! I made my way down the cocktail list (excellent drinks), and after that made my way down to the basement bar which had a wicked dj playing old funk and disco even dropping some drum & bass, the old ghosts of the Blue note are obviously still present. I remember the kind staff carrying me to a cab a little later on, and thats about it, still, had a wicked time there, essential if your in the area!!!

It appears things seem to be changing at Bluu!!! I have been coming here on and off for about 7 years now and this bar was once at the forefront of what was happening in the area. But over time everyone else caught up and took over. But not ant more, Bluu seems to have picked itself up and decided to reclaim its crown The atmosphere last weekend was hot. It was good to hear dj's trying to push something new rather than the tired sound of 'electro & new disco', the crowd was the right side of pretentious (just), and the cocktails made with a hell of a lot of knowledge. I just hope Bluu will continue to reclaim its place as where to find what should be happening in the area.

What a breath of fresh air. Hoxton can have some pretty nice bars (and some, strangely busy, horrible ones) but some of the staff always let them down. The staff at Bluu made me feel really welcome; there were no pretentious staff and the food was excellent, good and wholesome. It’s becoming very difficult to find a warm and welcoming bar in Hoxton, but this one fits the bill. (And the toilets have had a rather nice revamp!)

I’ve visited Bluu quite a few times as I work just around the corner, but each time I visit I say to myself, Why do I bother? The staff and management are incompetent and the food and drinks are overpriced. Overpriced is standard for Hoxton Square but with major differences, other bars have polite and friendly management and staff and they try to make you feel welcome.

Bluu staff don’t. My advice is try another bar, if you're going to pay for it, at least get it!

I had the longest wait to be served and for drinks to be made at a bar in my 20 years of drinking. Bluu aims to be a trendy drinks bar with a long list of classic and modern cocktails but the wait negated any good work for me and i wasn't the only one complaining at the bar that the wait "was ruining my night".
The bar staff, though friendly, continuously referred to a drinks manual on how to make the cocktails, even if they were particularly low staffed that night, that's no excuse. I was actually asked to come back in 5 to collect the last drink of my order.
I suggest they either employ more staff, train the ones they have or shorten the drinks list so it’s more manageable for the number and proficiency of the staff they have. Maybe all three.
