The ViewLondon Review
It’s hard to find a watering hole that can adapt to your moods. Some days you want a quiet drink without the fuss and others you just want to have a few shots and party the night away. This is where Boho steps in, as it is a bar that wants to keep everyone happy.
The Venue
Located on the high street, and not too far away from East Dulwich railway station, is the splendour that is Boho. It has a chilled-out vibe and looks a bit different from run-of-the-mill bars. Decorated in bare stone walls, it almost feels like you have stepped into a sort of cool cave. The brown leather stools that sit next to the round shiny black tables add to that fantasy.
If you pop down the stairs you will find another bar, which can be hired out. Down here the cavernous theme continues. It is very dark and has black bar stools with red leather banquettes. There are more places to sit down here and it feels more exclusive.
The Atmosphere
No matter what your mood is Boho can provide entertainment or solace for all. During the week, as with most bars, it is understandably a little less in party mode. If you’re a girl and are stuck for something to do mid-week, then you’re in luck, as Wednesdays at Boho means Ladies Night, which allows the fairer sex to take advantage of deals like buy two glasses of wine, get the rest of the bottle for free. Consider Wednesdays the girl zone. Weekends are when the party gets started as the DJ drops party tunes and it gets packed, so make sure you get their early to nab a table.
The Drink
It would be wise to turn up at Boho for their superb happy hour, which runs from 5pm-9pm. During this time selected bottles of beer are two for a fiver and some cocktails are £3.50, instead of the usual £6.50. For the cocktails they have the usual mai tais, martinis and white Russians and a list of their own special concoctions. One that stands out is the Bohemian Princess, which is purple in colour and tastes like alcoholic Ribena with a lingering aftertaste of cinnamon. Wine is also a good choice as it is not that expensive; house is £15 a bottle for a chardonnay or pinot grigio, or £4.85 a glass.
The Last Word
Boho is an asset to the area, and its friendly staff and equally happy patrons make it a bar that you can see yourself calling your new favourite local.
