With so many good restaurants in Crouch End you can't afford to be slack, which makes you wonder what is going on at Bouga. We waited over 30 mins for a drink. Rubbish service and waiters were not friendly. The food was ok but mine was inedible. Did they care? They didn't even notice. Toilets stink. Cash only, so had to go to a cash machine. My advice to Bouga, you really need to put the customer first. Take a tip to the Olive Tree or Arocaria and discover what great service is!!!

Terrible service - we waited for 30 minutes to get a drink. Waiters unfriendly (stark contrast to the Olive Tree next door or the Arocaria Greek restaurant across the road which has brilliant service).
Food was ok (not great) in general but my lamb was inedible. I was surprised they cleared my plate seeing I'd not eaten a thing. Even the dumbest waiter should have asked why? The loos stink! And right by their scruffy kitchen. Not impressed. Belly dancer was good. Won't be going back again, especially when Crouch End has so many better restaurants.

I booked at Bouga for my birthday last Saturday (19th November 2011) and after reading all these bad reviews I was really scared for the decision I had made and I was about to cancel , but having invited so many people over I decided to go through with the booking.
I must say that the bouga people must have read all these reviews, because what I experienced there was nothing like it was described from other diners.
The atmosphere was amazing, the decor superb, warm and cosy, the service the friendliest and most effective the food amazing and on top of that a little cake surprise for my birthday.
Thank you Bouga for an amazing night

Don't bother eating at this restaurant where the food is mediocre, service non-existent, and prices high. The staff seemed much more interested in talking amongst themselves and serving drinks for them selves than serving us. We had to cancel one of the dishes which did not arrive even after a couple of reminders. We were reliably informed that the oil was still being heated up!!! The young woman waitress needs to learn some social skills. Not one word of apology since the waitress said that the poor service had nothing to do with her. If possible, we would give this restaurant half a star!

DO NOT GO TO BOUGA, CROUCH END.I don't know where to start, and I'm sure I will forget one of the many things that they managed to get wrong last night during my meal out with 3 friends.-Appalling customer service, rude and non-welcoming.-They managed to double up on the starters, forgot a main course and gave us tap water and charged us for sparkling water.-Waited an hour for main course.-When the food came it was the smallest, blandest piece of chicken swimming in oil.-Charged us for the extra starters that we sent back.-When they realised they'd forgotten a main course, they quickly put a bowl of chick peas and some tomato in the microwave and nuked it. This IS NOT Moussaka.-Completely stitched us up with the voucher we had and messed up the bill TWICE.UNBELIEVABLE. DO.NOT.GO

very very disappointed, bouga did not leave up to expectation. starters not bad but on the small size main course , hard to tell if it was moroccan very westernised, no spice , no harissa with the couscous very blend aslo dont get the king prawn tagine, 3 tiny prawns ,3 potatoes and carrots and that is your main course , awful.. Service not great had quite an argumentative waitress, quite a few dishes not available and dessert ... well get yourself a jar of lemon curd, bought pastry and rename lemon tart!! bad.

Thanks Bouga for a fantastic night. It was my girlfriend’s birthday and she asked me to take her to Morocco so she could buy up the Casbah. Well, my budget couldn’t quite stretch to that so I took her and some pals to the little Marrakesh in Crouch End. Food was excellent, service great, overall good value considering the number of pina coladas they (that’s my girlfriend and her sister) drank and best of all was the atmosphere. For a while anyway, we really felt as though were on holiday; the only trouble was, we were disappointed when we left to find we were still in Crouch End!

A truly abysmal experience

I ate there today and was expecting something pleasant, they have inviting decor and I have eaten at many North African restaurants before so was hoping for an enjoyable experience.

I ordered a vegetable tagine and some tea for a drink, with a borak for a starter.

The coffee took twenty minutes to arrive, the starter another fifteen after that and the tagine took HALF AN HOUR despite asking the waitress numerous times, who seemed to have forgotten our order.

When the food did come it was cold, bland and the vegetables were undercooked. The waiters struggled to English so I spoke to them in Arabic, even then they were rude and obtuse, they were unwilling to consider any of my criticisms or explain why it had taken over an hour to prepare my food and why the result was an undercooked mess.

I was extremely disappointed with this restaurant, it is the worst North African I have ever eaten at and one of the worst restaurants I have ever eaten at in any country in the world. Terrible service, bland, undercooked food and waiters with limited English. Avoid at all costs.

I am really surprised to hear some of the reviews below; obviously these people have not been to a proper resultant otherwise they would not waste time to even mention this awful dump.
On recommendation of a colleague who has not tasted good food either we tried this place; We paid just under £50 for TWO foul kebabs (together with some cheap starter and pudding) in this freezing cold dump and when complained they offer us TWO free cokes!
For £25.00 I could have taken a cab to Holloway Road, got far superior shish kebab from Crystal Kebab; bought a really nice bottle of wine and still have a pocket full of cash.
So I am not going to waste your time; but if you are planning to go out for a meal just avoid this dump.
So I will back the review below which said: Bad service, bad seating, and bland food, over priced for what you get. Dont waste your money!

Gosh! so much bitterness, is just a restaurant!
Food is ok and cocktails are good. Like in famous Momo's restaurant you tend to go to this places for the atmosphere not exclusively for food. If what you look for is kebabs then head to Maroush not a Moroccan restaurant.

One of the worst dining experiences I've had. Crammed in like sardines, appallingly slow service and bland tasteless food. We certainly won't be returning to Bouga again.

I've never been to Morocco but from my mum's reaction to the interior of Bouga, I don't have to! This place is such fun - lovely authentic setting and amazing food, even though I hadn't a clue what it was! Really nice staff at Bouga too. Definitely recommended.
