What a real shame this place is, good location and a nice little back garden, but it seems to be mostly frequented by the lower end of the 'city boy' scale, the ones who don't apologize when the barge past you. This, however, would be more than forgivable if it weren't for the obnoxious manger and his lax attitude to the way his pub is run. He is genuinely rude and sometimes threatening. Out with the staff and cretinous manager and hopefully the 'geezers' might follow.
Apologies for the rant but i live and work in the area and this place really is scar to the neighborhood.
I could not agree more about the appallingly rude staff in this place, the ringleader of the tormentors being the manager himself!
After seeing countless people waiting at the bar being overlooked for service I asked for the lady to my right to be served and was met with a cantankerous and threatening response, to which I replied ‘ok there is no need to be rude’ to which the manager replied ‘I’m not going to serve you any drinks now’ I was left shocked and speechless by his response and informed him that because of his behaviour I will never be returning, I suggest all that read this do the same.
If you only do one thing in life, please make sure it’s never to visit here.
Do not go here! I have never been to a bar and been so astonishingly offended by the bar staff, as they told one of our party she needed to loose at least two stone!
Placards should be erected in honour of how monumentally offensive the bar staff here are.
Suffice to say they are so impressively rude they make Prince Philip look like Henry Kissinger.
Avoid this place like the plague unless you like being insulted and paying for the experience
I disagree with caroline29. the reason this pub is so busy is because this is the best pub in the area for atmosphere and service.
i go here frequently and would recomend it to anyone who wants a good night out.
also, it has 2 ladies toilets. there's one upstairs as well.
The upside is that this place has a lovely patio and a nice upstairs seating area.
The downsides are that it is way too crowded ... wait times at the bar are ridiculous, plus there is often virtually nowhere to stand downstairs. Plus there is only one women's toilet. I left my friend sitting by herself for 50 minutes (not even kidding) because that's how long it took me to stand in a queue of five girls for the loo and then get served at the bar (and I have to confess, I did actually cut in front of a couple of girls who were at the bar ahead of me).
Given that the London Bridge / Borough Market area has quite a range of really fantastic pubs and bars, I don't understand why it is so crowded - there are shedloads of better places.
