Fantastic cocktails and the Dj gets the party going on a Friday night!! I've heard the food is really good as its all homemade so I will be booking in for lunch soon. Much better than all the chain bars in the City.

My personal rating 5/5(if the general manager wasn't there).
Okay so where do I start, first of all the venue is a amazingly beautiful the decor the Buddhas the lay-out, you feel very comfortable and you can have a very discreet meal or drinks on a quiet street in busy city of London. Now it all starts with us a nice drink during happy hour the the bar staff were working non-stop of their feet, the bar manager was non stop running the floor, serving drinks, taking out bins, my colleague had a word with him saying that he was doing too much. then our food came out and it was served to the wrong table I told the guy that served it and I was appalled by his attitude I quote "I'm the general manager let me do my job I know what I'm doing,as you can see I'm busy an your holding me up".
I was going to leave but my friends was having such a good time I decided to bite my lip and stay. Another manager came round to our table to collect the plates so I vented my anger an told him how upset I was with his general manager. He then brought the plates back to the kitchen apologised to us and offered us a glass of prosecco, the chef from the kitchen came out after and offered us a desert just for the mix-up for the food. During the rest of the night the chef and the other manager "not the one flexing his muscles all the time", made us feel really special by just coming around to us an making sure we was fine and having a good time, a rare quality in a venue. I would definitely recommend this place, and I hope the GM reads this and takes a note of exactly what I just wrote.
Me and my girlfriend came down to carter rooms last week for dinner and it was great. We took advantage of their happy hour deal for cocktails. Will definitely be returning.
Second time I have visited now. First time was for a work event and food orders were slow and very unorganised and today for lunch was a nightmare. Today a group of us visited as we work close by. Was probably 20 people max in the bar and food was slow to arrive. When it did arrive food was burnt. Sent back only to wait 15 mins before asking where my replacement was only to be told another 10 mins as wash friends. To make things worse the table next to us had exactly the same, burnt food. Seems totally miss managed and very poor cooks (how can they serve up burnt food)???Ok for a drink if even a little over priced but avoid food at all costs.
I can second the review about 2nd rate Groupon voucher service.
Knowing that it is hard to get a Groupon booking, and knowing I wanted to dine in November, I called up one month ahead of my intended date of dining to pre-book. I was told that I can only book 7 days ahead, and it would be no problem. So I marked in my diary to call back 7 days before the intended day to book.
So 7 days before when I wanted to dine, I called up, and was promptly told that I was able to have a table. As soon as I mentioned Groupon, I was told that the Groupon allocation was used up for the next 3 weeks. When I complained, they said they could take my booking for the 5 day window 3 weeks from now, but that they were not accepting any Groupons in December.
In the end I gave up trying to go there with all the conditions that they have heaped on me. Sounds like a wise decision - and I certainly will not go there again, full-price paying customer or not
I love trying new places, especially if I get to do it with a bargain, but I can only hope that the food and atmosphere here are a step above the service when booking. They take Groupon bookings at their 'discrepancy' as they do not qualify as paying customers; well with an attitude like that you are unlikely to gain many extra customers from what I presume is a publicity or marketing initiative. Why participate in a scheme like this if you don't want the custom of those buying into it. Although I could have a table if I wished to pay full price on my selected date, if I want to use my voucher there is a 2 week wait. Now that I’ve managed to book I really do hope the service and food are a far more positive experience.
This place is a hidden gem at St Paul's! The ambiance is very stylish with party booths and bar areas on two floors. With good music and staff makes a wonderful experience.
Great bar for cocktails even though they are a little over-priced, the burgers are fantastic, it's well worth a visit on Burger Friday!
We've moved offices recently to the St Paul's area and been at Carter Rooms last Friday for their lunch deal, great burger and atmosphere! 5 out of 5 guys!
Lovely bar, great atmosphere, all the drinks i like and the food is better than all of the above
superb new spot for all occasions
The Carter Rooms has been done up beautifully and is a great addition to a part of London that needs some new blood
Staff are efficient and friendly and getting service does not take long, even when the place is crowded
Choice of booze is excellent and cocktails are imaginative and well-made
There's a good feeling to this bar and whilst I haven't tried the main courses, the bar snacks are great - ribs and lamb kebab things in particular
If only all new bars were as competently handled as this
Well worth a visit and would be perfect for work / birthday type events
Loved this bar - had a cool city feel with a relaxed atmosphere. A couple of my friends and myself went along to check it out and had a fantastic night.
We got served quickly - didn't wait long at all.
Food was very tasty! :-)
Staff were friendly and attentive and music was great.
The sort of place which accommodates for everyone - whether you are on a date, with friends or work colleagues...over all 10/10
The Carter Rooms is my new favourite bar in London. It's a very cool space, with exposed brickwork, cosy booths and great lighting too. I reckon it's perfect for a night out with colleagues, friends or a romantic soiree a deux.
i was very impressed with the cocktail menu, and the bartenders were really friendly and entertaining. There is a good choice of draught beers, and as you'd expect from a decent bar, a typically wide selection of spirits.
The music was good too - it's not too loud, but not too quiet, it just provided a cool backing track to the evening.
On the food front, the menu is very British, and everything that I tasted was very good indeed. It's not pretentious at all, which I find at a lot of bars in the city, it's just good food, and it arrived quickly too which was welcomed after a long day at work.
So, in summary, a really great discovery in a nice spot just near St Pauls, so it's easy to get to as well. I'll be going back again and again.
Great new bar, great food and great atmosphere. I visited the Carter Rooms recently for a casual drink as well a for a function and had a fun and faultless time. The new Gem of London and must visit venue!
I held my birthday drinks at the Carter Rooms last Friday night and a great time was had by all! The drinks were spot on and pretty fair value for the area and style/quality of bar. I hadn't booked food, but I spoke to the manager and before we knew it we had mixed platters for 20/30 people in front of us and the food was excellent - especially the ribs! The bar wasn't rammed and was just the right level of busy to give a good atmosphere and nice buzz for the night - it also meant we could get served fairly easily. Cheers.
