Carvosso’s at 210 have taken over and refurbished a Chiswick High Road townhouse. They’ve done really well, showing much restraint and moderation. The result is stylish and elegant.
The menu is well priced and though it has the slight atmosphere of a gentleman’s club, not at all stuffy, or hard work. There’s a menu of the day - starting at £13.50 – or an a la carte to choose from. I went for the a la Carte and chose Pork belly with celeriac mash (£14.95,) which, I have to report, was delicious. Sister Mary, (Yep, I was dining with a nun) had Spinach and Ricotta with butter, sage, and black truffles, which I thought was pretty cool…and decadent. (£15.95.)
Although Carvosso’s is on Chiswick High Road, it has the feeling, once inside, of being ‘off the beaten track,’ almost countrified. However, there’s certainly nothing trumped-up, or fake about it. Excellent service and according to Sister Mary the food was “heaven”. I’m still not sure if she was joking.
