Slip down a side street, just a stone's throw from HRH's residence, and you will find this quaint little pub.
The Venue
The Cask and Glass consists of a tiny triangular room, probably no more than 15 feet long, with lots of paraphernalia relating to the royals adorning the walls. It’s just like stepping into a granny’s front parlour.
The Atmosphere
As expected in such a touristy part of London, there is a pretty eclectic bunch of people visiting. Local business workers are present, alongside the usual mix of tourists, young and old, British and foreign. Everyone is made to feel welcome.
The Food
Sadly, the choice of food is limited which is more than likely due to the lack of room. A selection of toasted sandwiches is on offer from £3.50, with rather unexciting options including the house club sandwich (£4.50), which consists of ham, cheese, tomato, mushroom and onion.
The Drink
There’s a decent choice of beers, ales and ciders on draught and in bottles. However, they particularly pride themselves on their ales, with choices including Shepherd Neame’s Bishops Finger. As a result of this, they have been awarded Cask Marque status. Wines are reasonably priced and you can get a small glass for under £3.50, or a decent bottle for around £15.
The Last Word
A very quaint little pub that’s worth a visit for the novelty value alone.
