While waiting to meet someone in the bar at lunchtime on Monday September 20th opted for a soft drink and was charged £4.50 for a tomato juice - had been asked whether I wanted spices - said yes and apparently this increasded the price from £3.50 - must be some sort of record for a drop of Worcester sauce. However this was nothing to what the bar staff then did - some unfortunate individual (presumably in the adjacent restaurant) had asked for two glassses of rose champagne. The bar staff took a bottle of champage standing in an ice bucket and poured the remnants to fill a glass - as this was early Monday lunchtime this must have been standing for a couple of days. Realising that the glass was devoid of bubbles, a bit of water was added (don't know why but they did it) and the mixture was tipped from glass to glass until bubbles appeared. The only rose champagne listed on the bar tarriff is £17 per glass.
