Proper Pub? Not a chance. Dreadful? - ? - Today
After months of lunching at The Prince of Wales (formally McCahills) on our Friday venture from the office, this week we thought we'd have a change and try somewhere else out... and we found ourselves walking the extra 3 minutes to The Cleveland.

Shouldn't have bothered! Initial signs were promising. It looked like a good old fashioned pub, the Guiness was good and there was a well maintained pool table.... That's where the positives end.

We ordered 3 Stew and Dumplings and a Sausage Sandwich. We waited over half an hour for the meals to arrive, only to find out they had been microwaved using two microwaves at the end of the bar! What kind of place is this? Needless to say the food was appalling. Even the sausage sandwich was a disgrace, it was basically 2 slices of toasted supermarket sliced white with one (yes, one) sausage inside, that had been calved into the thinest slices I have ever seen (perhaps the only process in the kitchen that had required anything close to actual chef skills).

Will not be going back. Avoid at all costs!

The only thing to say is that it is just a pub.

The food in not great, but it is just a pub, that is why the beer is good, and it has a juke box and a pool table, and shows sport on the TV.

The PoW does great food, but that is a different sort of place altogether.

I like the fact that you can go for a drink or go somewhere that is food orientated, not all pubs have to be the same.

Once again it is just a pub. It in not awful, or to be avoided, go for a drink and a chat with the locals and watch the Rugby on the TV.

I you want to eat there are plenty good restaurants around Paddington. or go to the PoW...

Love this pub. A real English pub in a sea of tourist paddington joints and chains.

They rent rooms too. And pour a mean pint of Guinness! Love it. Friendly, fair prices. Closes early, like any real pub.

Don't eat the free peanuts that Cleveland Arms puts on the tables. There are so many germs in all that stuff!! Cleveland Arms is a nice friendly pub and they have good quiz nights.
