Booked a table with a Time Out voucher for a 2 course meal at Coco Bamboo and was hoping for a romantic meal for two.
Arrived late, and apologized straight away (delay caused by bad weather) and was dismissed by a totally inflexible, and arrogant member of staff, who turned out to be one of the owners. She offered no solutions, and I had to suggest that we will return in 30 min to see if any of the tables become available, she informed us that there will be no space for us at all as tables for two are not available, my reply was that if our table for 2 was given to another couple, then it might become available after.
We returned again and were told that after 7pm there will be no tables for Time Out customers, we replied that we were not aware of that as it wasn’t stated on Time Out website, voucher or Coco Bamboo's website.
So after 2 hours waiting, frustrating conversations with the lady owner, and a couple of cocktails later, the kitchen was closed and we had to leave.
We tried to forget about the unfortunate visit and tried to rebook it, to be told our voucher has been cancelled.
We feel deeply touched and insulted by extremely unprofessional approach of this owner (not a waitress, not a member of staff but by a female owner) that advertises her restaurant on portals like Groupon and Time out and then treats customers that purchased deals like unwanted enemy. We were told that our voucher will be valid for the next visit and it was a straight up lie.
I usually appreciate small businesses and never post bad reviews, but the owner’s behavior was out of line
Strongly suggest not purchasing any vouchers as you will be treated like the worst nightmare!

Delicious food, great atmosphere, shame about the service and be cautious if considering a party booking.

I had a party booking here for my birthday with 8 guests. Most noticeable thing for me on arrival was that the staff were not very friendly. We called in advance to say we were going to be 30 mins late, but this was still met with sarcastic comments from the floor manager on arrival. Throughout the evening his attitude was very curt which put off most of my guests. It was like he was doing us a favour by serving us.

Floor manager aside we were given a set party menu which had a limited but tasty choice of 3 courses covering Brazilian and Caribbean classics, all with a twist. All of my guests agreed that the starters and mains were delicious. The cod fish fritters and baby jerk chicken were scrumptious. However, dessert was disappointing. The passion fruit cheesecake had far too much gelatin and was very wet with a wobbly consistency. My guests commented that for the first time they had not enjoyed dessert.

The cocktails and shots were delicious. We received a round of shots on the house which were so tasty we had to order more. We were having a good time, the floor manager had disappeared and the waitresses were friendlier.

The atmosphere was then ruined by another manager just after we paid the bill including a hefty service charge who told me (birthday girl) I would not be getting my deposit back as not all of my guests had turned up. After much haggling I got some of it back as they had indeed used one of my tables for other guests. I wish she had told me this earlier so as not to leave a bitter taste at the end of the evening. The management definitely need customer service training.

I would go back again as the starters and mains were so delicious, but only with a couple of friends, never a party booking. Make sure you bring a TasteCard or Carbon Free Dining voucher to get 50% off too.

A very honest review: Had my birthday celebrations there last week with a group of 30. The food was great,(people especially loved the starters and main....the deserts were ok but the apple crumble and creme brulee were not great. Also a few people did say that the fruit cake actually tasted more like Jamaican bun!).

The staff are lovely. I will definitely go back for more. My guests have said the same.

A very nice evening out with nice food with generous helpings. Good value for money.
