Overpriced drinks, unfriendly staff, cheap drinks on Monday evening except Bank Holiday Mondays when they rip you off and claim its the law!
Check out the new barman from LA...not only is he hot, but so friendly too...nice change ...Great iconic venue - Enjoy
Women unfriendly place, was out last night for my 40th birthday and we where not allowed in! But the Admiral Duncan was wonderful.
Nice enough place to have a chat or an after-work drink. Never tried the food at the pub, but it sounds like your average "Fish and chips" English pub menu.
Downstairs is a bit cruisy and you get a nice mix of Soho queens and proper gay men, which makes the place a bit funny too. The bartenders are professional and friendly enough, unless, of course, you have Armani shoes and a six pack, in which case they are uber nice. On an evening, the downstairs cruisy place gets a bit darker and they place nice tunes to dance to, but no one does anyway because they're always looking around to see the next best hairy chest.
I recommend it thoroughly if you just want to enjoy a casual after-work or friendly drink with a nice like-minded gay friend. I wouldn't make it my usual hang-out though.
When I heard this bar was cheap, I expected this to refer to the drinks not the decor, evidently on a Monday both could come under this umbrella. Whilst the place is busy, downstairs sees more 'cruisers' than a port, and upstairs the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly until you have any form of interaction with the small lady behind the bar. I say lady only due to apparent physical attributes, but the style of customer service is far from lady like. I overheard a situation adjacent to me in which rather admitting a mistake she genuinely had made , the staff member proceeded to swear to the customer and go on about tips. Not sure which customer service school she went to but after this, the only tip I can give her is to wind in the attitude. Me and my friend proceeded elsewhere and the group involved were too left disgusted by the event, only to then be told by a regular it's 'going this way in here'.
On a Monday it would be suffice to say you get what you pay for, but I'd rather pay full price for good service or drink in other bars within the immediate vicinity who are also offering drinks for £2 or less. Despite not being involved in the above incident directly, I certainly don't want to pay to be an audience member either. Bring back the good old days of this bar, or at least improve bar interaction.
Comptons of Soho, Well All I can Say is, that it is a Truly Friendly Place, the Food that is Served upstairs is Great, having visited this Pub on and off for the Past 25 years, I have never left without feeling that I have enjoyed my evening, Great Door staff on the busier nights,
the Management and staff really do know what they are doing,
Highly Recommended
Best night is monday when everything is £1.50. Also its the best night for the people that turn up. You will meet a lot of interesting types and great conversation.
Been loads of times to Comptons and have loved it everytime! I give it 5 stars.
A friend and I visited Comptons on Sunday night and found it a little crowded but a friendly place where you could relax and enjoy the good vibes. The decor is rather dark and the toilets need Kim and Aggie but I think it deserves 5 stars.
I have been to Comptons on numerous occasions and have enjoyed myself each time.
Since my last visit due to disability I am unable to get to London but I recommend it and give four stars.

Comptons of Soho is where loads of my gay friends go. I've been there a couple of times and kicked my heels up. My friends recommend Comptons but it didn't do anything for me - probably for obvious reasons.
