Nice enough pub but the food is way below standard for the price. We went there for a Sunday roast and struggled to see the beef on the plate. What we could find was tough and gristly. The Yorkshire pudding was shriveled and looked very sorry for itself while the roast potatoes were served lukewarm. Shame as the pub is in such a prime position in Dulwich Village with very little else to chose from near-by except Pizza Express or Cafe Rouge. I guess this is the only reason the place is busy.

This pub looks lovely and previously was a great place to eat and drink.
The new manager has ruined it.
Quality of food and service is dreadful.
Food is cold, portions tiny, waiting times unbelievable and prices ridiculous.
They are understaffed and so unfriendly and miserable now..
Such a shame - will avoid now until it improves

i have lived in Dulwich for years and the food has rapidly deteriorated in the last 6 months to the extent that they are not going to have many customers left if they go on like this. Bad food, tiny portions, expensive and poor quality. What on earth happened guys - get a grip we want to the old Dog back!

The Crown and Greyhound is a nice pub with terrible service. The guy serving us food was really rude and unfriendly to us. We won't be going back to the Crown and Greyhound.

I just went for lunch here, and was disappointed with the service and the quality of the meals offered.

The drinks were very expensive and the service was shoddy. I went for the roast beef and was offered a meagre protion along with vetry burnt potatoes. My girlfriend was offered yorkshire pudding with her fish pie! It was an expensive waste of a Sunday lunchtime.

I'm not sure I would describe the carvery as fabulous, but it was good for pub grub. The Crown and Greyhound is a lovely building - as far as atmosphere is concerned you don't get much better than that. However, I'm not a fan of Dulwich Village, so maybe that has tainted my opinion of the place. Approach Crown and Greyhound with caution - don't get swayed by the beautiful old building.

Having lived in SE5/SE24 area for about 4 years, I know the Crown and Greyhound fairly well. Situated in picturesque Dulwich village, it's a great place to hang out on a summers evening. Always seems to attract some weirdos though, and considering it's in a hoighty toighty neighbourhood, I always thought that was pretty weird myself. Still it adds character to the place.

Anyway the real point of this review is to talk about its sunday lunches. Having eaten there many times before (just never on a sunday) I was amazed when we went down there last sunday to find an ABSOLUTELY HEAVING full-on carvery! It's £9 for a fat plate of either lamb, beef or pork (I had the pork as the wife got the last beef - both were delicious!). You get the full works - yorkie pud, spuds, greens, carrots, parsnips etc all smothered in delicious gravy. This isn't your usual "London pub roast" either i.e. not microwavable, and yes, they actually have a proper carvery.

The food was fantastic, and it was a great way to spend a lazy afternoon. I can't believe I've been searching high and low for the last few years trying to find a pub with a proper decent carvery/Sunday lunch in London, and all along there has been one right under my nose! Isn't that always the way though? Anyway I'm heading back again with some mates this Sunday and my only advice is get there EARLY! Carvery starts at 12, and goes on until about 2ish, but we got in line about 2 and like I said, they were literally down to the last portions on the last joint when we were there. And it was heaving too, i.e. not much table space!

Enjoy!
