went to Darbucka on friday night and had the 50% set menu deal. The food was fresh and plentiful, the service was very friendly (I believe the place is under new management this year). After our dinner we went to the bar downstairs and enjoyed the Arabic music and the bellydancing. We loved it and we'll be back to try the 25% off al acart deal. :)

Had the 50% off set menu shared between 4 people. It was amazing - food was all freshly cooked despite being from a set menu. Portions were generous bordering on massive. Great atmosphere - the restaurant was full, but you didn't feel squashed or overwhelmed by noise. House wine was very reasonable (£14) and drinkeable. My only criticism would be that they could have used maybe one more person waiting on tables as it was so busy in there.

Lovely little place with a great atmosphere. Could have 1 more wait staff on but all in all it was a great experience, beautiful food and service with a smile. The 50% off deal was fantastic, and there was plenty there to eat. Will definately go back.

So a nightmare occurred yesterday the new year eve 2008. we are italian we boocked in that restaurant. First they were very rude fron the entrancy! we had to pay before we enter 40 pound per person!

inside was misrable, no place to sit even if it was empty, no respect for the customer, no services on table and so aggressive waiter.

the food was horrible cold and no so much choice for the dinner of new year eve.

we didn't eat and we left the place soon.

Went out for my brother birthday meal with family, venue was nice. Food took along time from starters to mains, made us waited about 50minutes in between. At the end of the meal the waiter brought out the birthday cake and play the happy birthday song on which was great. My brother accidentally dropped the cake onto the floor and this was when the staff got very rude. We were told to pay for our meals immediately and were told to leave. While we was paying for the food, the manager came over and said he should have made us pay for the damage on the floor. And he even threatens us that he would call the police, this was a shock to all of us. This was far most the worse customer service I have ever experience and will definitely not be coming back again.

went here on a friends birthday, it was simply ok. there was an intial mix up of whether we were there for a downstairs entertainment or the restaurant. after much commotion, we were evenually seated. although the food was great(very filling) we were rushed to eat as closing time was approaching. we found the staff very rude. but the food is price worthy and tasty.

My boyfriend and I went for dinner here on Saturday night. It was possibly one of the worst evenings we have had.
Initially it looked great, the venue is original and bodes well for a fun night. We had to sit upstairs as downstairs was full. Our waitress was incredibly rude from the outset, she plonked a set menu down in front of us, so we had no option as to what we ate. At this point my boyfriend was less than enthusiastic about staying, but I persuaded him that I had heard good things about the food, so we should stay. I explained to the waitress that I have an allergy to a certain nut, and asked her if she knew the nuts that could possibly be on the menu. It was at this point that we should have left. I was assured there were no nuts at all in the set meal. The starter was fine. A plate of hummus and falafel which is just that; fine, nothing more. The main took 40 minutes to come after the starter, and consisted of chunks of meat. Chicken and Lamb. No pitta, no accompaniment, other than a few gherkins and shredded lettuce on the side of the plate. We had one mouthful, and decided it wasn’t for us. Despite my boyfriends moaning I went for dessert, seeing as all I had eaten was a falafel all evening. Our extremely rude waitress, plonked our pudding in front of us; a plate of crushed mixed nuts in pastry. It was then I reminded her I have an allergy to a certain nut. She then proceeded to argue with me about only being allergic to one type of nut. She didn’t believe me! A waitress arguingwith a paying customer over an allergy! Then she told us, rudely, that she didn’t know which nuts were used in the food because the food was bought in, not made on the premises! I asked her to go and look at the label on the packet. Apparantly even this was too much to ask, as she simply left us, sitting with the dessert in front of us for 20 minutes!!

Unfortunately I visited once last weekend and will most definitely not be returning. The only thing going for it is the food, the service was abaolutely appalling. This was my friends 30th birthday party and just a few of the problems included:
- a waitress spilling a glass of wine on our food and then trying to deny it and blame one of us when it was actually her
- when we went downstairs after dinner, the door staff were extremely rude to the birthday girl and demanded to see her receipt. When she produced it, it was apparently not in the acceptable format, and she had to go back to ask for this. Again they were extremely rude and when we finally got inside, the area she had paid £100 for was occupied. The bouncers then tried to remove people from a different area, which is out of order to those people too, they should have kept the original reservation - to top it off, her birthday cake was eaten by the people sitting in her reserved seats!! They couldnt be bothered to do anything about it so she got her £100 back and left but this is appalling and she did not deserve the attitude she got that night.

I have given a one star because the food is good and perhaps this is better for people who are only going to eat there in small groups, definitely not a venue for large groups and most certainly not birthdays because they dont care if they ruin it.

i completely agree - went there for my 30th and engagement drinks. even after explaining it was a special occasion when we booked we were appalled by the dreadful customer service. i booked table for dinner and also reserved an area in the bar - they told me i did not reserve an area in the bar and started arguing with me and kept moving my friends who ended up spending over £200 on food and over £500 on drinks. i subsequently emailed them with my confirmation reservation and complained about the dreadful experience - unsurprisingly they have not responded. i would urge anyone never to visit this place again. the music/venue and location are nice but the staff are so rude and arrogant and dont care about their customers at all.
