After a hard days work, or a hard day of avoiding work, you might find yourself looking for a public house where you can kick back and release some of that tension. A bar that serves good food and drink while not being overly pretentious, lucky for us Davys Canary Wharf ticks all the boxes.

The Venue
Situated on the waterside, across from West India Quay, Davys Canary Wharf has a location that most bars could only hope for. The decor goes for rustic and yet pulls off sophisticated, the saw dusted floors and the oak furniture really complimenting each other. With ornamental farmwear adorning the walls and empty wine bottles covering every surface you can tell that someone has thought about the look they were going for, and pulled out all the stops to achieve it.

The Atmosphere
This is very much a lunchtime and after work pub. Unfortunately, Davys Canary Wharf has become a victim of its own success and, as such, can become uncomfortably busy come Thursday or Friday. Also, this is not the kind of bar where you will be meeting new people - you talk to those you are with about work and that's it. That said, this is a friendly, professional place and even if you go alone you wouldn't feel unwelcome.

The Food
Very good quality with a price tag to match. Having a spacious separate eating area behind the main bar does give the feeling of two venues in one. For a main you are looking at just under £10, and, fortunately, upon receiving your food you will be able to tell that it's not been near a microwave. The iconic sausage and mash is excellent and you won't begrudge the price. The service is efficient and friendly, you would be hard pressed to find fault.

The Drink
One of the biggest attractions to Davys Canary Wharf is the fact they brew their own beer - other than Guinness, you won't find the usual pub brands here. These have been replaced with Lager, Ordinary Bitter and Old Wollop (another bitter). You won't be disappointed with these and prices are in the £3.50 region. Spirits are as standard with usual London prices; furthermore, there is an extensive wine list to suit all budgets.

The Last Word
Perfect for putting the world to rights after a hard days work. This is not a party pub, but if you are coming here to catch up on the office gossip, or perhaps to create some, Davys Canary Wharf will meet your needs exactly.
