We went to Detroit yesterday for early evening drinks, having found it on here with good reviews. We weren't disappointed!! Didn't try the cocktails, our party preferred wine, champagne and cider (Swedish cider, particularly good!).
Great atmosphere, friendly staff, wasn't too busy early evening so very easy to get a table and efficient service. We will definitely return, looking forward to trying out the cocktail menu next time, the two cocktails for £7 before 7pm looks like a very good deal!!

This place is fantastic - tough to find, central location, looks like Fred Flintstone's bar,

nice relaxed music, sexy 20s/30s crowd, great cocktails, friendly bar staff, great drinks selection... what more could you want?!

The Detroit Bar is unbelievable - it's great to look at and the staff are the friendliest I've come across in London. The food and drink are sublime too and the music is good. For something to eat or a chilled out drink Detroit Bar is perfect. Go there.

Well done to Detroit Bar & Restaurant. Great environment and atmosphere, friendly staff and fantastic wine. It could have done without the DJ playing quite such moody records but other than that Detroit Bar & Restaurant was all good.

Who needs to go to Detroit when the Detroit Bar has over a dozen martinis to get stuck into? By the time you get through them all you won't know where you are anyway - Detroit, the Detroit bar, earth, the moon, Joan Collins' bedroom. Not that I condone drinking you understand.

Detroit Bar is an amazing place. At first sight, you are wondering 'where am I going?' but when you enter the bar, you are amazed. The decor is really nice : alluring alcove lounges offer relaxation and intimacy; there are two of these, the Crypt by the side of the bar and the Long Room, in the deepest recesses of the establishment. The restaurant itself is really nice and the food really good. European food, well presented, and good service. Another positive point: the menu has something for everyone: vegeterians or meat eaters.

Detroit is a classic example of a funky London bar hidden away from the hoards of tourists. Set at basement level, the copper coloured archways and candlelit alcoves make you feel like you are in a nuclear bunker for termites. The bar could maybe benefit from a live DJ but the background music was still cool with latino / funky house grooves adding to the cheerful ambience. A big highlight was the pricey but imaginative cocktail list.
