I live just across the road and use the Drayton Court probably once or twice a month and although not I guess classified as a regular I am always made to feel welcome and generally speaking the service is always pretty prompt although at busy times you have to be patient, but then that is said for all pubs. The food is great value and never had any complaints as for the price and the fact that it is pub food I think they do well. I think the refurbishment has been done well, and with the size of the pub/garden and the fact that it hosts many different functions there are bound to be one or two gripes as to service/attention etc but overall I think the management and staff do a sterling job. It is indeed a far cry from the smokey old boozer it used to be 20 or so years ago!Well done all concerned!DUNCAN
I have lived and worked in Ealing for a number of years and may not count my self as a regular at the Drayton but have spent many a summer afternoon enjoying a pint in the Garden. I have always found the staff to be very friendly and alway seem to be enjoying working unlike other local pubs i have visited. The Drayton has recently opened as a hotel and when my parents came to stay I decided to go and check out the rooms to see if they would be suitable for them to stay as i live in a studio flat. I met a peasant young lady on reception who gave me a guided tour, the finish of the rooms were amazing and everyone is different unlike a lots of hotels i have stayed in which can be a bit similar. I promptly booked my parents in and visited for Sunday lunch that weekend, the roast beef I had was amazing and I also manager to squeeze in one of there home made desserts. To sum up the Drayton I would say that this is a pub/hotel which caters for every one be it a family with children or a group of friends out for the evening. Well done fullers keep up the good work. :)
I live locally to this pub and have been few times, though not in the past 3 months as I got sick of having to wait an eternity to get served. The bar staff keep on serving the locals as soon as they walk up to the bar and forget about the people that have been waiting patiently for a long time. One of the culprits of this is the bar manager. If he is behaving this way his workers are naturally going to follow. If they want to get new regulars this is definitely not the way to go about it.
I can also say that the roast beef meal I had here would be without doubt the worst meal I have EVER been served. I realise that this might sound a bit farfetched but I promise you that I am telling the truth. The beef might as well have been made of leather.
I agree with the previous post in this bar does not have the best of atmospheres. It is a bit rough around the edges.
I would advise that you try another pub as there are plenty more in the area where you might even get a smile!
When you see a couple of bouncers standing outside at 7PM for what is supppsed to be family pub and hotel, you start having doubts. The sports bar is a testosterone-fest, full of shaved heads, beer-bellies and tattoos who check out everone who walks in, particularly female. Escaping to the vast garden behind was not much better. The ill-concealed sense of menace and violence waiting to explode was not helped by a massive bouncer patrolling up and down the garden path. I gulped down my pint and escaped with my family and we all felt a sense of relief to have got away without serious injury. Only go if you think you're hard enough. violence waiting to explode was not helped by a massive bouncer patrolling up and down the garden path. Great location, almost opposite West Ealing overground station.
This Fullers pub has ample seating inside and outside with an enormous garden. Balcony for smokers with outdoor heaters. The food menu is vast and always fresh and cook pretty much to perfection. The Drayton Arms always offers fast service with a smile.
Overall : A fantastic Fullers pub with regular weekly entertainment.
The Drayton Court has a great atmosphere for such a large pub. The garden which is one of the largest pub gardens in London, 3/4 of an acre, is brilliant in the summer especially during the Jazz or "Hog Roast" events. The Drayton has 2 bars upstairs, one in the function room and an outdoor bar for those hot summer days.
The staff are not bad either and the recent refurb allowing for a covered smoking area on the balcony overlooking the garden has made a great improvement to what was already a very cosy comfortable environment. Shame about the price of the crisps.
The pub (structure) is lovely, big garden, facilities for sports when big games/events are on the staff are in general friendly and polite to the elderly. The refurb has done it some favours- but i would't have spent 30k on a plastic roof!!
Anyway there are lets say some management issues...
Having been in and out of the Drayton for most of my drinking life I have to say that this is an excellent pub for summer. Largest garden in the world and good, quick bar staff.
