The ViewLondon Review
This slick, American-style diner is classier than many of its competitors and serves up decent food and fun times for all who visit. Situated on the edge of Soho this comes highly recommended for a meal, cocktail or both to anyone in the area. The VenueThe Eagle Bar & Diner is situated on the Charing Cross Road edge of Soho, very close to Tottenham Court tube. The bar and restaurant are divided down the middle so the diners aren’t disturbed and the drinkers get some space to move around and socialise. The bar is brightly lit with plenty of chrome and, more importantly, delicious cocktails to choose from. The restaurant is largely made up of booth seating, which provides a cosy, intimate evening.
The AtmosphereThe Eagle Bar and Diner is an exciting, loud place so perhaps not the ideal place for a relaxing catch-up, and often you have to raise your voice to be heard. This is a good sign though, as it’s a testament to the fact that everyone’s having a good time. It’s also a great place for people watching, as the place is just teeming with different characters. There’s a lot of workers who have piled in from surrounding Soho, people out on nervous first dates and friends catching up over a bite to eat. The staff are friendly and help as much as they can, but sometimes seem a little overwhelmed with the amount of people, far outnumbering them.
The FoodThe American-style menu has an overwhelming choice of burgers to choose from, and delicious vegetarian alternatives. There’s also a choice of different types of fries. If burgers and fries aren’t your bag, then there is a good selection of main meals to satisfy. The portions are generous and everything is delicious. The price is reasonable for the area, and much better value for money than other American-themed places in the West End. It suits all budgets as there’s plenty to choose from if you’re on a budget or a blow-out night.
The DrinkCocktails dominate here, like with most places. There seems to be a good selection and taste delicious. Prices are average to expensive for the area, and may not be to everyone’s budget.
The Last WordThe Eagle Bar and Diner buzzes with a feel-good atmosphere. Both bar and restaurant are worth a visit – before everyone finds out about it!
