The ViewLondon Review
This Wimbledon favourite is popular with locals, thanks to its welcoming, spacious atmosphere, and cheap and cheerful food and drink.
The Venue
The décor is clean, modern and comfy. There are large couches positioned around heavy wooden tables at the back, dining tables and chairs throughout the space and a dance floor to one side. It is quite a large space and a few areas within it are broken up by steps and slightly different furniture.
The Atmosphere
At the weekends it gets pretty busy, with people coming in for some serious drinking and serious dancing. During the week, however, it’s much less packed and those evenings are perfect to pop in for after-work drinks and a quick catch-up in a comfy, no-fuss environment. You can claim a corner to yourself, settle down on a couch, and chat away with a glass of wine and some nibbles.
Music-wise, they have a resident DJ Stevey B who plays on Tuesday and Friday nights, sometimes with a live bongo accompaniment, and on Saturday its party night with DJ Paul Riggs belting out floor fillers from the decks to an up for it crowd.
The Food
The cuisine here is modern pub grub with a bit of American and Mediterranean influence. The majority of the menu comes under the category of comfort food, with chips, curly fries and breaded goodies aplenty. The chicken and spice burger is a tasty treat with a spicy breaded chicken breast, fresh red onions and lettuce, and a juicy lick of salsa, all served up alongside chips or curly fries (£5.70). If you’re not in the mood for diner-style food there are also some lighter options like the chicken quesadilla (£5.10) that come filled with little succulent chunks of chicken, slivers of pepper and a healthy punch of spice. On Wednesdays they have a 2-4-1 pizza deal.
The Drink
There’s a pretty well stocked, lengthy bar with all the standard spirits and ample beer and wine options, plus numerous fruity cocktails. There are some great deals on drinks like £1.50 on selected drinks on a Tuesday and 2-4-1 cocktails on a Thursday
The Last Word
A really comfy venue, Edwards provides a decent chill-out spot for weeknight drinks, and a solid party venue for weekend revellers.
