The ViewLondon Review
Nestled in a modern courtyard in the heart of The City, Firefly is a chic place for cocktails, and with weekly events there’s always something to keep you entertained. The VenueFirefly caters well to whatever mood you’re in with three different areas each offering you a different experience. The Kitchen focuses on food with drinks, and the sleek, clean lines create a sophisticated dining environment. The chic elegance is echoed in the Gallery with a long bar for customers to perch whilst sipping their cocktails. Finally, the Vault is an underground lounge with a small dancefloor and a darker, sexy feel for late night dancing.
The AtmosphereFull of City workers looking to mingle and relax, moving from section to section with ease and informality, Firefly feels like one big party: you can enjoy a quiet meal, have a chat with friends with a lively bar, then go dance. However, the atmosphere in the late night section feels a bit awkward and unbalanced, with people of random ages getting a bit drunk and dancing madly, or people milling around the sides not brave enough to strut their stuff. If you enjoy piano performances or watching live bands then on Wednesdays and Thursdays respectively, you can add a twist to you’re after work drinks, but don’t take it too seriously or you’ll be disappointed.
The DrinkThe best that this bar has to offer is the £6.50 cocktails: choices include the classic mojitos; daiquiris with fresh, high quality ingredients; or the unique signature cocktails for combining interesting ingredients to create wonderful concoctions. If you’re exhausted after a long day try the Pharmaceutical Martini - a blend of vodka, coffee, creme de cacao and sugar to get you buzzing again. Unexciting beers and wines are offered, but an extensive spirit list containing many fine spirits makes up for it.
The Last WordThe Firefly is a simple, modern bar that’s ideal for City slickers to kick up their heels, but won’t offer anything out of the ordinary.
