Definitely not the place to got for a quiet dinner. We were sitting in front of the live band and it was impossible to have a conversation, since it was really loud. The dancing floor was full, and we have dancers literally next to us.
Prices up to the roof for the quantity and quality.
I will definitely not choose this place to go out again.

I thought the atmosphere was Great! The Waiter very attentive. The food in general is incredibly expensive and in general ordinary. Although the Tiger Prawns as a starter for sharing were very good but at £32 they should be. Being charged £6 per head for the music and a 12 1/2 % Service charge.

This is my first time ever that I have written a review, but felt I had to after spending a wonderful evening at Floridita's last night. I was looking for somewhere special to celebrate our daughters 30th and was very nearly put off by previous reviews that I had read. The staff were very friendly, hard working, professional and could not do enough for us. The food..... was excellent the best steak I have eaten in a long while, although a bit pricey I felt the whole package; food, drinks, venue, atmosphere and brilliant live music was worth every penny. I mentioned it was our daughters birthday when we booked and the waiter presented her with a special dessert and gift, which I thought was a wonderful touch. We will go back again.

This is a good place to go if someone else is paying or for company do's because the food is offensively very very over priced, I ordered a Quesadilla which was a small fajita with a spoon full of filling in the middle and paid £13 for it!! The music is great but expect to be charged £6 per person in addition to the expensive food, also very loud so not good if you don't like shouting to be heard.

The staff were very nice and also very conscious the food is over priced so they try hard to make up for it in service, in truth, this was not worth it at all. Between the two of us we paid over £60 for just a main dish each and only one alcoholic drink. Not good value for money and will never be going back.

Had fun last night with my wife for our wedding anniversary. The live music provided by los Charlys was excellent, and the rum cocktails went down well. However, the food was a bit of a let down, v, expensive for what was provided, I had the red snapper fish with cuban beans on the side, all for £25, painful, and then dessert, 4 mini chocalates, with some merangue that you could pick up in Tesco's for less than £1, coming out at £8.50.....the food certainly didn't exude quality, hence the issue with paying these prices

Overall great music and atmosphere and would go again for that, wouldn't recommend eating there

Well I've been coming here for a few years on and off. Always love the live music and cocktails.
But now it seems even better.. last Thursday there was an amazing band playing called the Congo Faith Healers! Not Latin but a really refreshing change and had the place dancing all night, we loved it! Then on Friday it was a great surprise to see the amazing Osvaldo playing some of the hottest Latin dance music in London. It certainly gave the pace a new dimension and breath of fresh air...will be back. must be the best place for great cocktails, live music and dancing in Soho!
Muchas gracias!

Took my hubby to celebrate his birthday here on a Friday and although the place was stunning and the ambience certainly lively and entertaining (thanks to the live band singing classic salsa) the food was however over priced for the the quantity, my sirloin steak was £23.00 and all that accompanied it was a piece of grilled pepper! Our waiter was somewhat strange (a short slim guy with a moustache and glasses with an accent) everytime i asked a question his reply was followed by shrugging his shoulders. I had requested when booking that my fella be given a candle with his dessert, they failed to comply and i had to re-request it in his presence which killed the moment, although they made up for it in the end with a complimentary dessert, cuban book and salsa cd as a gift! I would definately come back here for cocktails and to listen to the music but the food was too bland for me and pricey.

What a wonderful night we have just spent in Floridita,. I am a massive salsa fan, and have been wanting to come for a while, and it didn't disappoint. The food was amazing, and the service was just about the best I have ever experienced.. I would heartily recommend Floridita to all my friends, and indeed to anybody.

I had a brilliant night out in Floridita. The place is visually stunning, and this was matched by the brilliant service and top quality food. Also a Cuban band provided the entertainment which was a really nice touch. Once we had finished our dinner we moved on to sampling the excellent cocktails, and danced the night away. When the band stopped at just after midnight a DJ took over, and the atmosphere was amazing.

I would definately recommend this place to all my friends. It was a great night out, and considering the high quality of the food, service and entertainment, great value for money.

i do agree with the recent reviews. place is stunning on first visuals, then its downhill. they are only interested in having diners and people paying for a table. so go only if its on a corporate credit card. music is middling but people watching is cool since most patrons can salsa. but i think there are more fun nights out like barrio north and bar salsa, at half the price.

My friend decided to organise a party for his birthday based on your good reputation.

I arrived around 8.30pm with my girlfriend and we sat on the sofa’s under the stairs. Around 9pm the staff told us the seats would have to be vacated to make way for a private party. Everyone was shuffled in the small area between the bar and the sofa and table areas were cordoned off! It wouldn’t be so bad if there wasn’t 300 people squashed in an uncomfortable area.

I was standing by the pillar just slightly in the sofa area when one of the staff a tall man with short mousey blonde hair and a foreign accent asked us to move elsewhere. Since there was barely any room to go I asked him ‘where am I supposed to go?’ he then said ‘these people paid £35 per head so if you want a table you can talk to our staff. Since this hadn’t answered my question I repeated my original question. He then threateningly told me ‘I can take you outside for free if you want!’

I said I am only asking him because we’re squashed in this small area and again he repeated his threat.

Now I’m all for experiencing a blend of glamour and decadence from a bygone era (as per the mantra on the website) but shuffling 300 people in a tight small space and threatening them with expulsion is not what I had in mind!

If you want overpriced drinks, poor customer service and to be treated like cattle because you didn’t fork out £35 per head then please you’re welcome to it!

The entrance fee of ten pounds gets you into a large basement restaurant with a long bar, a large number of tables, a stage for the band and a small cordoned-off dance floor. There are some side rooms and areas that are used for private parties. On the saturday I went the bar and dance floor were packed like a tube train in rush hour. The barmen spend a ridiculously long time making each cocktail - once I waited at the bar so long that I gave up and went toward the dance area instead. The band was playing a mixture of cumbia and other colombian music - not cuban, and when the band were not playing the dj puts on a mixture of rather average salsa, bachata, and merengue - no cuban timba! The dance floor obviously used to be larger, but now the crowd is packed into a small area and if you want cuban style dancing I would suggest going somewhere else. The restaurant is obviously keen to make its money by getting people to eat there, but many of the tables were empty. If I wanted dinner and cuban or south american dance music I would give Floridita a miss.

Went here for a friends birthday. Venue is stunning. Although nice, the food was very pricey. Drinks are very pricey if you can get served. Restaurant staff were very attentive but @ 12.5% service charge so they should be. Music was fantastic and played all the night I was there. People that go there to dance know their stuff and if you're not a salsa dancer you might find this intimidating. Dance floor way too small be prepared to be shoved around. Staff were constantly trying to sell us something throughout the night from gifts for the party girl to cocktails. Note: Menu states that £6 will be added to your bill to pay for the band. This doesn't sound too bad until you get the bill and figure out that they have charged you £6 per head for the band. 10 of us ate which mean't they charged us an additional £60 on top of an already very large bill.

We were really disappointed with this place. We were in there for over 3 hours as the service was so poor. Being told we had to pay the full bill at the end of this very long fiasco was the final straw! Customer satisfaction or reputation is clearly not a priority. And the food was average at best.

I went here for a special occasion with my sister and some friends. This was the wrong venue for a special occasion as the staff lack genuine manners and could not care less about making diners feel valued. The Manager can be see walking around the place actually shouting at staff - and customers!

The food and live music are excellent! It is worth going, but only if you can laugh at the pretentious staff. To feel like a valued customer or if you are celebrating a special night, do not go.

We were rushed off our table after being told our reserved area was ready. Only to find the previous people had not moved - as their table was not ready. The staff made no attempt to apologise for this and were plain rude when we asked what was happening. For 15 minutes we waited, squashed in the bar area and it really put a negative spin on what had been a well planned and considered night. The staff actually complained that we had brought gifts with us!

Dropped in for a quick cocktail to check out the place for a hen do. initial impression is swanky and posh looking. i think they like girls here, as i got served very quickly and didn't get shoved around by waiters. dance floor is small and the band started late. it was more peruvian than Cuban, but a few regulars hit the dance floor. i must say i feel sorry for people who don't know how to salsa as they are quickly crowded out by the expert dancers. cocktails were so-so, i had a mojito for 8 pounds, and i must say i prefer paying 9 pounds for the ones at la pigalle. the booths look cosy, didn't eat there, but was standing next to a couple and i could smell their sea bass, which means it isn't fresh. free before 9pm and you get a stamp. i think we will eat elsewhere and come here for bit of salsa and club.

Quite possibly the worse restaurant experience of my life. I went there for a friends birthday and they had taken advantage of the Evening Standard set menu which wouldn't have been my choice. When I arrived I realised it was the old Mezzo place - Mezzo's was bad enough and this place is worse. If you idea of a good meal out is a place where you can't hear yourself think for the music and to rub shoulders with a bunch of up their own arse coke sniffers then this is the place for you. Not only did we have to wait until 22:45 before sitting down (table was booked for 21:30) the food was appalling. I sat eating a cardboard getting bashed in the back of the head every 2 mins by a waiters arse as he took orders from the claustrophobically too close table next too us. To be fair to the manager when we complained, initially about how late the table was, gave us a round of cocktails for free. After the whole experience he didn't have much choice but to give us the whole meal free. Avoid like the plague if you have an ounce of taste.

4 of us paid £35 a pop for the New Year's Bar ticket expecting the country's best Jazz Band and some fantastic Cuban/Latin music. The band played alright - for an hour from 11 to midnight and promptly packed. And then it looked like someone threw a few run-on-the mill club style CDs into the deck and went home. No live DJ, no Latin music, and absolutely no interest in keeping the crowd entertained. Cant figure out what was Cuban about all this. Rip-off. Drinks prices - rip off again. 3 diet cokes, and a shot of JD cost £16!!

The only positive thing about the night was that they had promised a table reservation for the price we paid, did not have one when we arrived, we made a fuss, and they quickly found one.

overrated placedrinks very expensivepushy valet in the mens "lavatory"control freak door men and security staff.

i stood on the front steps for a matter of seconds waiting for a friend to come out and was told "i cant have you standing there, either go inside or stand on the footpath",

i was in no way in any ones way. another inside asked us to move away from the kitchen area as the so the waitesses could get through easier. this may have be a legitimiate request but the man lacked social skills.

rather than asking us to please move to the side we got "I CANT HAVE YOU STANDING HERE". these guys have earpieces and seem to think they are members of OBAMA's security team.

please enrol in a social skills class. dont waste your time.

Was at Floridita on sat 12th Sept 2009 and it was really disappointing!

It's lost the original charm it had of the Cuban flavour. The DJ was actually playing Blues...???????/

Really! In a Cuban club. I couldn't believe it.The club used to be a hot spot for salsa dancing where a good time was guaranteed - not anymore.

Sad - very sad - don't waste your time.

Near the dance floor theres a great atmosphere. Great music, and no territorial aggression you sometimes get in London clubs. BUT be warned the 'Mojito madness' is a con.

The barman actually warned us that although drinks are half price, its also a half measure! What a con!

I was also surprised that in such a pricey club they can't get decent air conditioning, but instead have huge fans on either side of the bar - a warning to girls not to wear fly away skirts!

A good night out for the music, but be prepared to pay for it at the bar.

The worst dining/bar experience I have had in London after 7 years of living here.

I would have given it 0 stars but that was not an option.

The bar/waiting staff have a terrible attitude towards customers and rather being there to serve you, constantly tell you off for not standing or sitting in the right place.

Atmosphere was very unfriendly and pretentious.

Although might be pleasant for a couple, this is definitely not a place of group of friends to gather for a special occasion.

Music was good, place looked nice. Food was average.

One recommendation for this place, DO NOT go here. You will only be disappointed.

I would like to point at the manager of the club and restaurant, who if attitude very personal with people and childish, there is a problem with him every time I go to this place.

he's not professional and blames customers for his mistakes and letting people going out without paying. and blame others for it.

bit cheeky and cheap also personal attacking other customers and blame them for the bill to get away with it, calling the bouncers for every occasion to show power, bit childish ans immature.

this massage has to go up to the director and owner of the club. Thanks

Floridita is a good ground and solid experience. What you see is what you get. Wholesome food with an exotic twist. The Cuban atmosphere is very vibrant, and you shouldn't expect too much attention from the waiters, as they always amazingly seem to appear when you need them. Drinks aren't too pricy either. Floridita staff will arrange any party for you, if you're 2 or 20.
Personally I experienced the place to be utterly professional as we had problems upholding the time of booking we had ordered, and with no stress what so ever we were able to change. Cute waiters and bartenders, sexy chicas dancing on the stage.

Our engagement party was made perfect by the staff and atmosphere of this truly special venue. We chose to hire one of their semi-exclusive areas for the occasion and were treated to a lovely, smooth evening, filled with great cocktails, lots of champagne and mouth-watering canapes. Everything had been organised prior to the event and we literally just had to sit back and enjoy. Special mention has to go out to our head waitress who was extremely attentive, despite having other guests to look after, and very knowledgable. the live Cuban band was fantastic and we are strongly considering having a joint birthday party there next year.

I took my boyfriend for dinner for our 1st anniversary, I wanted to show him a completely different experience about Latin American restaurants and here we go... the place: beautiful very sparkly, very good decoration, modern, nothing to extravagant. We walked in and a very nice hostess welcomed us in, we had some drinks at the bar and then the music started, great band, perfect music, a bit loud but hey! They are playing live!! We had a few beers to start and some cocktails, must say, to be a Cuban restaurant I have had better mojitos, but not bad. We went to our table on time, the menu was exciting, we order 1 starter to share, a bottle of red wine, bottle of water, Argentinean steak for main, and a sharing dessert, the food: was absolutely fantastic!! There was a few couples dancing, making a great atmosphere. The service: good, but could be much better, we have a friendly waitress but very busy, probably they where short of staff, but still they can improve more. And then the bill £150 with service included (12%) and £6 for the band (which in my opinion should be more, they were brilliant!) if I will go back?, definitely yes. We had a night to remember, was amazing.

I made a Guest list for my birthday party for a Friday night and I did this a week in advance. Turned up with at least 10 friends and my name was not on the guest list! I had it confirmed but they none of it and was not allowed into Floridita! Not a good evening, we walked in and it had an air of pretentiousness. Thank god I had a backup plan for a Jazz bar which we had a good time. Just to confirm you need a guest list just to drink at the bar!

My meal was tasty and authentic, if slightly overpriced, service was friendly and knowledgable and cocktails excellent. I do object though to having £6.00 per person added to by bill for music. When I queried it, I was told it was discretionary (although this wasn't apparent) and so I asked for it to be removed. They're obviously not used to this as it took ages because it had to be authorised by a manager. I wonder how many people, particularly groups, don't check the bill and therefore end up paying for it without realising.

I have just seen some of the reviews on Floridita.
We must have gone to different restaurants.

I had a reservation for 6 people on a Saturday night at 9.30 which is the later reservation (much better) it was for my Husbands birthday.
It’s a high end restaurant in a nice, young, bustling, trendy part of London.. Of course it's not going to be as cheap as chips but it was worth every penny.

This place is not short of Incredible!!!...

We had the best table in the place and this place is Huge and chic.. The table right at the front of the stage had a clear view of the Band.. and it was a perfect spot to people watch. It was great to see the other diners enjoying themselves partying the night away to the sounds of Salsa at its BEST!

It feels like being on holiday that’s how good the feel of the place is... Exciting!

Yes the music is loud.. but it’s supposed to create a Cuban atmosphere after all it’s a Cuban Restaurant. Obviously some of you diners have never been to Cuba if you have you would know that music fills the air everywhere you go and its LOUD and busy and colourful..

The food was delicious one thing about South American / Cuban people is they can make a meal out of little or nothing and the Menu at Floridita was authentic and fresh.
It does take a while to cook as its started from scratch and prepared table by table you have to wait your turn but the atmosphere, cocktails, and entertainment make it worth the wait.
If you want fast food go to McDonalds.
If you want a quiet restaurant don’t go Cuban.
Simple as that..

for 6 of us including a birthday cake and 2 - 3 cocktails each it came to £280 we put a £20 tip in for our lovely waitress who was fab all evening.

So £300 split 6 ways worked out £50 a pop.

Its hardly extortionate now is it?

My husband loved it so did our friends I would recommend it to anyone.

Very disappointing. Had a table for 4 on Saturday night which came to £350, for only 4 starters and main courses, one dessert, one of the "cheaper" bottles of wine and 2 mojitos. no coffees, no other extras. the asparagus and goats cheese tart could have come out of a supermarket. other food was so so. Very slow to take our order so we did not eat a thing for an hour. The band were very goodnbut it was so loud we had to shout at each other and it really killed any hope of conversation - we were not even particularly near to the stage either. Our wine was not brought for an hour either and it was similarly slow to get the bill. Looks a great atmosphere for dancing and partying but I was expecting really top notch food and a better dining experience for that kind of money.

This place is awful. such a disappointment. 20 of us went for dinner for a friend's birthday and the service was appalling, the meal was overpriced and then they added an extra £500 to the bill. This included a charge for the music (??) and an extra £13 per head extra than we were quoted for dinner. When we disputed the bill the manager was useless and the bouncers got heavy. It is a huge rip off, the staff are rude and for the price you could go somewhere far better.

Floridita was a complete disappointment, offering London prices in place of Cuban charm. Floridita just takes your money and treats you like dirt. Staff let too many people in and then spent the night shoving people around obnoxiously. We also got ripped off. Having been told that entry was free at 7pm, our party of 10 was subsequently charged £8 a head on top of our already overpriced meal for music, because one of our group arrived at 7.20pm. When we complained that it didn't make any sense because the music didn't even start till 8pm, the waiter was rude.

The icing on the cake was that having checked the dress code and been told no jeans, no trainers, two of my friends were refused entry because one of them was wearing combats. Meanwhile, loads of people in jeans were enjoying the night downstairs while I was forced to spend half the night on the Floridita stairs arguing with the incredibly rude manager on my birthday. Never again.

Sorry guys, but Floridita is a horrible place to go - unless you like awful restaurants. Expensive and tasteless. Save your money for other ones because Floridita is a shame!

I'm a firm believer that when you ask for a drink a certain way (because you are paying for it) it should be made that way. I simply asked the bartender to not put so much ice in my Mojito, and his response was to say it's the way they make them. I can appreciate that but if i'm paying for it, it should be done my way. I didn't appreciate the rudeness.

I was there this past Saturday night for a surprise birthday party and the food wasn't fresh at all. I was very dissapointed. I had the snapper cerviche and it was awful. The birthday girl's food came out cold and to top it off we were also forced to leave our area within a certain timeframe without tem having disclosed that prior to our making the reservation. Needless to say, I will never visit Floridita again nor will I recommend it to anyone.

I went to Floridita and I wasnt impressed with the food at all. In fact had I not been so tired, I would have complained and refused to pay for it. The upside is that the Floridita cocktails were amazing, probably the best I have ever had.

Whilst Floridita is very atmospheric, with good food and nice drinks, the last time we were there we were informed that we had to leave after two hours at our table. We had not even finished our drinks! This was very unprofessional and we talked to the Floridita manager. They said this was their policy but it was not believable because another time we were there nobody told us to leave (we had the table for over three hours).

The fact that the bill is steep at this place should mean that the customer is never bothered with such matters. Even if there is such ludricous policy, since we were not informed off it before we sat, the management should have dealt with it.

I loved Floridita. The place was straight out of a scene from Sex and the City. It was vibrant, funky and chic. The food was delicious and the music fantastic. I have nothing bad to say about Floridita. I also loved the mix of young and older people dancing away to Latin music.

Had a great night at Floridita on Tuesday 19th Sept. Floridita has a great atmosphere although not really busy, wicked cocktails, very nice food and good service. Will go back again.

Floridita is like a little slice of South America in the heart of Soho. My friends and I always meet up at Floridita for a quick drink and end up making a night of it with a meal and more drinks and dancing!

I recently visited London from Birmingham and went to Floridita. I left the premises (where, I must say, I thought the atmosphere was great) slightly worse for wear, leaving my personal belongings behind. However, good news, the staff were totally honest and kept them safe for me. All in all I would say Floridita is a great party bar.

Floridita is the best night in London...mellow, passionate, ambient...and the food! You would forget that it's a cold in Floridita, was there on Friday night with the sounds of South America.

Ditto the comment from the 15th Dec.

Table booked at Floridita for 9.30pm - dinner served at midnight! It took 30 minutes to get served at the bar.

Floridita needs to decide what it is. Club, bar or restaurant. At the moment, it fails in all three categories.

I had read mixed reviews about Floridita so I thought I must at least give this place a chance. I'm very happy I did - what a night of all things Cuban! There is another bar and restaurant upstairs that seemed very popular but we were so pleased to be in Floridita with their amazing live band.

There are cigars available at the bar and my girlfriend was raving about the cocktails. Floridita is a great place for a party.

I went to Floridita the other night and had the most amazing time. It was just as your review said - the food, drinks, dancing, service and atmosphere were all amazing.

Floridita was unlike any Conran restaurant I have ever been to, in fact it is unlike any restaurant in London that I can think of. I bored my friends and family over Christmas by telling them how much I enjoyed my night.

Floridita is very fun and has a good atmosphere. The only thing I'd say bad about Floridita is perhaps don't eat the food.

Floridita looks great. The atmosphere is great. The bar staff are great. Shame about the door staff and management.

No drinks are allowed from the upstairs bar to the downstairs bar so you're forced to buy another more expensive drink downstairs in Floridita.

We were moved several times from where we were standing by very rude staff. When I explained the final time that it was the third time we had been moved so we couldn't understand where we were supposed to actually stand, we got a blank look from the blank looking blonde holding the clipboard. I told her that I would never come to this bar again and she said (with her blank look) Well that's your right.

One star given for the bar staff at Floridita.

Whilst pleasant in theory, Floridita unfortunately fails in all aspects. The service was abysmal, to the point where wine was was poured into a full water glass, and when complained about it to the manager, the waiter actually came back to the table to chastise us!

The menus took 20 minutes to arrive and cocktails took 35 minutes. There was no apology, merely, We have a large party tonight. Whilst true, it happens to fall under the category of not my problem.

Even the music at Floridita, which once again was great in theory, was so loud that all conversation had to be held at a level more conducive to a tourist bar in Leicester Square. Proving that Floridita was the perfect environment to indulge in a perforated eardrum and watered-down wine belly, but little else.

Ay, ay, ay Floridita is hot stuff! I thought Floridita would be stuck up particularly as George Clooney was there the other week but it's not at all. I definitely recommend giving it a try.
