I just had dinner at Frankie's at Stamford Bridge. What a disaster. Marco Pierre should return and provide some cooking lessons. We ordered pretty basic food. Grilled Salmon and arugula and a Pasta with pesto. The salmon was dry. The response, "that is because it is served without a sauce!" So moisture from salmon comes from the sauce! Are you kidding me? The Salmon was dry because it was dreadfully over cooked. What a sad use of a piece of organic salmon. The Spaghetti was over salted, and I mean over salted, I needed water to eat half of it. Frankies Italian Bar and Grill must be a restaurant the Marco Pierre White just put his name on the outside of the building, as there was nothing inside the building to denote his quality. Recommendation? There are lots of restaurants in the Chelsea area that deserve your money.
With Marco Pierre White and racing legend Frankie Dettori being the proud patrons of Frankies Italian Bar and Grill I was expecting nothing less than perfection. What I got was disappointment and a stomach so bloated I didn't need a cab to South Kensington station, I simply rolled like a Tumbleweed blowing in the wind The decor is pretty funky. The enlarged disco balls were hilarious. I was expecting a horsey theme, so this was a pleasant surprise. The staff were very attentive up until the point the bill where the waiter was dithering. The drinks were uninspired and bland considering the astronomical price of them. The wine I ordered smelt like Camel's urine (i went to London Zoo a week before) and tasted acidic. The prosecco they gave us was ok, not great though. The food was too rich, even for my taste and I've dined the bloody Ritz. The confit of duck's leg was tasty however that left me feeling really bloated to the extent I couldn't finish my pudding. My pudding incidentally was strawberry and cream (note the deliberate absence of a plural there as there was only one and it was hardly fresh). I would expect this in a restaurant that was cheap and didn't have the name of a decorated chef and jockey on the billing but since it did I can't hide my frustration. If you enjoy mediocre food, dark surroundings and being overcharged then go to Frankie's
Lovely food and really friendly staff, would recommend the steak, beautiful!
Went to Frankies tonight, maitre d was superb, staff were great, decor was fabulous and the whole thing was effortless and food was brilliant. £55 for two with wine, coffee, tip and puddings was great value and then as we were leaving we met Marco in the foyer - he was generous, warm and friendly and he made the perfect end to a perfect night. *****
I think Frankies Italian Bar and Grill is amazing! The atmosphere is effortless glamour, and the decor just oozes perfection. I have been to Frankies often lately, and it never fails to impress. The staff are amazing, the service is great, and the food is always on top form. I can't understand why it isn't always packed. But I guess that makes it even better for the people that love it there. I would totally recommend the Passion Fruit/ Watermelon Martinis because they are simply to die for. Frankies rules! x x
I went to Frankie's Italian Bar and Grill to celebrate a friend's birthday and was sorely disappointed. This is the worst dining experience I have had in over a decade living in London.
The food at Frankie's Italian Bar and Grill was bland, the service both surly and rude and the price extortionate.
