Review bySamantha Jenkins20/08/2008
The Frog And Forget Me Not is positioned in an excellent location right by Clapham Common. A refurbishment in 2008 has helped to turn things around and make the most of the decent space, although it’s yet to reach its full potential. Watch this space.

The Venue
After a refurbishment in 2008, this attractive pub located on a corner plot in trendy Clapham has really started to come into its own in an area saturated with bars and pubs.

The interior of the The Frog And Forget Me Not is a fairly large space, although it’s quite dark and atmospheric. Large ornate mirrors are hung on the walls above squashy settees to ease any sense of foreboding the darkness could create. Upstairs is a small roof terrace, which is lovely on warm balmy nights. A plasma TV is also in situ for all sports fans.

The Atmosphere
There is a nice relaxing atmosphere at the The Frog And Forget Me Not and it’s popular with workers and local residents. Being right next to the Common, there is a great deal of people traffic, which the pub definitely benefits from. If the sport showing on the plasmas isn’t your bag, you are welcome to raid the games cupboard for a bit of backgammon. If you prefer more organised activities, quiz nights are held every Tuesday.

The Food
The food choice at the The Frog And Forget Me Not is an eclectic mix of English and Thai. A portion of chips is £2.50 with BBQ chicken wings and chips costing a reasonable £5.99. If you fancy a taste of the Orient, Thai dishes cost just £1.50-£4.50. Onion rings are £2.50 and Dim Sum is £3.85. Noodle and rice dishes start at £6.25, with the very popular thai curry costing £6.25 and crispy toasted duck £7.25.

The Drink
There’s an excellent beer selection at The Frog And Forget Me Not with Kronenbourg, Fosters, Stella, Becks, Courage Best Bitter, San Miguel, Strongbow, Guinness and, interestingly, Pimms and lemonade all found on tap, and Corona, Budweiser, Becks, Tyskie, Heineken, Peroni and Magners in bottles. Premium spirits are available as are some long drinks, and a jug of Pimms will set you back £14.50.

Wine is also reasonably priced with a red house starting at £13.50 a bottle. An Argentinean Malbec is £17.50. Rose starts at £15.50 for an Alpha Zeta Rosato (Italy) and a Chilean Syrah is £17.50. The white house is £13.50 and a South African Sauvignon Blanc is £18.50 a bottle. Louis Boullot Perle Noire 2003 is £17, with a bottle and Verve Clicquot coming in at a reasonable £37.50.

The Last Word
Overall, The Frog And Forget Me Not is a fairly run of the mill pub in a great spot. Despite a refurbishment in 2008, it hasn’t yet reached its full potential. Watch this space, however, as this pub has a lot to offer.
