This popular pub always seems to be teaming with people spilling out onto the street. It has a friendly and inviting atmosphere that will make you stop and enter for a drink even when you thought you weren’t thirsty.

The Venue
Garrick Arms is next door to its namesake - Garrick Theatre - and is conveniently located on Charing Cross Road, near to Leicester Square tube and Charing Cross mainline stations. Although there is ample seating inside the spacious and bright pub, when the weather is good, there are tables and chairs outside on the pavement that fill up quickly with early birds and do a good job of enticing more punters in.

The pub itself is very presentable, with nice understated decor and large windows that give a good view of the goings on outside; this makes for great people watching. There is a long bar that takes up the length of the right hand wall but there is still ample room for all the customers. When it gets busy, rather than seeming cramped, it just feels popular.

The Atmosphere
The atmosphere of Garrick Arms is what entices people in off the street. It always seems to be buzzing with all manner of people. Of course, it helps that it is affiliated with the Garrick Theatre next door, and therefore pulls in members of the audience before and after a performance.

There are often a lot of suits having a drink after work before making the commute back home from Charing Cross. It's also not uncommon to spot the odd celeb - either those performing next door or someone popping in from Capital Radio over the road. The bar staff are friendly and efficient and do well to deal with the numbers.

The Food
There's a good selection of food on the menu at the Garrick Arms, all at fairly reasonable prices including sandwiches, jacket potatoes, chips and other snacks for around the £6 mark. They also serve a variety of ample-sized main courses such as Thai salads, burgers and pasta dishes.

The Drink
The drinks at the Garrick Arms are well priced with beers for less than £3 a pint. A variety of wine is also on offer with a glass setting you back about £3.40. It's also fully stocked with a plethora of spirits.

The Last Word
Garrick Arms is an enjoyable place to go for a drink with a lively and charismatic atmosphere. The drinks are well priced and it's in a very convenient location for anything happening in the centre of London, particularly pre- or post-show drinks.
