The ViewLondon Review

Set on Regent Street above its sister venue, the oh-so-exclusive Paper, Glass is billed as a boutique cocktail lounge.

The Venue
It’s not the world’s biggest bar, and once it’s packed wall-to-wall with W1’s dressiest you’d be hard-pushed to discern much of the decor. Take it from us, though; the walls and surfaces are black, and chic black Murano-style chandeliers hang overhead.

The Atmosphere
If you like nothing more than breaking out the Blahniks and giving the gold card a bit of a workout, Glass could well be your new favourite bar. Plus there’s the possibility that a celebrity is doing something disreputable in Paper’s untouchable person room downstairs.

The Drinks
With bar prices appreciably above the W1 standard and a glossily dressed-up crowd, this isn’t the place to pop into for a quick after-work drink (especially at the end of the month). And if you just want to lounge around and drink lager, you might be better off elsewhere; Glass is about champagne and cocktails at their most octane.

The Last Word
A little more expensive and a little more exclusive, most of us don’t drink in bars like Glass every day. Nevertheless, it’s a good thing they exist: Soho’s bars may be more street, but London will always need a bit of bling.
