The ViewLondon Review
Situated on the corner of The Grove at the north end of Notting Hill, Golborne Grove is a welcoming establishment balancing a pub environment with a vibrant restaurant aesthetic in the heart of trendy West London. The VenueGolborne Grove is a fairly large pub venue, with an outside area and a function room on the first floor. There’s a traditional decor: oak seating mixed with leather sofas and fashionable photographs lining the walls adding to the curious but cool visuals.
The AtmosphereThere is a very chilled atmosphere at Golborne Grove during the week with the volume turned up on Fridays and Saturdays. The staff are friendly and there is a feel of a local, which is not overbearing and, come the weekend, the tempo is perfect for pre-club drinks.
The MusicYou’re not likely to find DJs flocking to Golborne Grove, unless it’s via the function room, but there’s chilled music played on most week nights. Anything grabbed from the charts to funky soulful tunes can be heard, and the volume is cranked up as the venue fills with revellers.
The FoodExpect your typical bar foods and an indulgent menu that definitely hits the spot and won’t disappoint those of you who have been lured by the word of mouth. The assortments of steaks - char-grilled, rib-eye, ostrich, buffalo - make for varied return visits. Expect your meal to hit £20+ including one of the fantastic desserts, which includes a cheese platter or, for the more candy inclined, there’s a powerful white chocolate cheesecake and banoffie pie.
The DrinkYou will find draught beers, bitter, and a comprehensive but fairly priced wine list with over 30 inclusions: Sauvignon Blanc for around £10, Chardonnay around £15, or Shiraz at £30.
The Last WordA very cool and hip venue that is more than satisfying. Golborne Grove does what a pub should do.
