I've eaten in the restaurant a few times - I can't get enough of their slow cooked lamb dish (I think it's called Birria), a big hunk of meat that falls off the bone. And all the little zingy healthy salads and tapasy dishes mean it's a world away from usual Tex Mex calorie-fest. But last weekend I discovered their basement bar and I was blown away. DJ playing great tunes, lovely cocktails and a really fun atmosphere. A friend I arranged to meet there struggled a bit to find it (signage could be improved) but definitely worth the effort. Eat upstairs, dance the night away downstairs, a perfect night out!

I think I am in love…the smell of the food, the strength of the drinks and the charming man in denim blue. Perhaps it was just the tequila, but everything about this place was delightful. I was slightly intimidated when I first walked in; I was the first of a small group of friends meeting up for post-work drinks and meal; and the place was buzzing. The maitre’d or restaurant manager (baby denim blue) greeted me at the door and immediately fetched me a stool for the bar to wait for my friends.

I did not know what to drink but the bartender was incredibly helpful and I ended up with a (rather healthy) cocktail made with pomegranate juice. It was delicious and set the tone for the evening.

My friends were late, but the restaurant manager checked up on me (and our reservation!) a couple of times. Eventually, my friends arrived but our table had to be given away (they were very late and it was very busy) so we ordered some nibbles from the bar and agreed to sit down a little later. No sooner, our second table was ready! We already knew what main courses we wanted to order, so we put those through immediately.

15 minutes later our food arrived as did the delicious aromas that followed! I ordered the lamb, a large primitive looking drumstick, where the spiced tender meat slipped right off the bone. This was the meat I filled my baby tacos with, and a different side with each one. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their main course, I was licking the bone! By the time we were ready for desserts, I was on my third expertly mixed cocktail by now, sage and pineapple margarita, quite possibly the best drink I have ever had in my life!

The food was amazing, the drinks were fab and the service was exceptional, from the attentiveness of the manager to the caring and knowledgeable bar staff, I’d go back on my own! Highly recommended!

Green and Red, Bar and Cantina - I love this place! If you like anything to do with Mexico and South America then you will love it too. There's a really genuine little taste of Latin America here, including the impressive drinks which all hail from that part of the world. There are some gorgeous looking girls in Green and Red too...

Green & Red Bar & Cantina is not a bad venue. The cocktails are great, and the bar service is second to one! The decor around the bar is cool, very authentic, but past that, the rest is very bare, and sadly lacking in character. With the bar being so good, I was surprised that the food was a tad disappointing.

I was informed that Green & Red Bar & Cantina was very authentic but it was actually boring. The service was good, until the end where it took 25 minutes after paying to get our left over chicken wrapped up to take home! When we opened the packages at home, we discovered three different portions of meat, all half eaten. So all ended up in the bin.

Green & Red rocks. I've had a couple of meals here and it's definitely the best Mexican food in town. None of the usual tex mex stuff, instead really tender lamb shank, slow cooked pork and things like that. All with great salsas and cute little tortillas.

Last time I went to Green & Red I discovered the huge downstairs bar. I love it.

I live round the corner from Green & Red and it's the one restaurant I know in the area that I can go to time and again. The staff are friendly, the food is great and I love the margaritas. It all kicks off downstairs at the weekend. Green & Red is excellent.

Green & Red is way over rated! We ate there last Sunday evening and found the decor to be contemporary and stylish and the staff were very friendly. However, we had to wait for everything as the restaurant was understaffed but, to be fair, the waitress was so friendly that we let that slide.

But then the food was bland, boring and poorly cooked. Their chorizo was poor quality, the lamb shank was served in a bowl of brown water, the sea bream was undercooked and tasted slightly off and the sides were awful. Having heard so many great things about the place it was such a disappointment.

It may have been an off night at Green & Red but at those prices this restaurant will not get a second chance.

Green & Red is a cracking little bar and restaurant with a good, friendly atmosphere, tasty food and well-made cocktails. Marks are deducted rfom Green & Red for strange food proportions (tortillas were no bigger than drink coasters and were insufficient for the food) and the seemingly bar-standard hour-on-hour rise in the music volume as the night went on.
