Although we have been there quite a few times and found it pleasant, we have been turned off by the 'old' rule that we have encountered for the first time yesterday.
They wanted to keep a tab open (locking the credit card and all) for two glasses of standard wine. When we said we have heard of this rule for the first time at gyngleboy, we were told this rule has existed since 10-20 years.
Nothing justifies locking a credit card especially in a place where wine is just ok.
As someone who has lived in Paris for more than 5 years, i have to say that nobody asked to keep a tab open even when a wine which costs 200 euro a bottle.
This is just a pretentious place to avoid.

I have had many a fine Red (Chilean) from Gyngle (as it's known to the regulars) and while some of the chairs leave a bit to be desired with regards to comfort, the selection of drinks, food, and general ambience are rich and welcoming. A real gem to stumble into on a windy day in Blighty.

The cigar selection is a nice touch too. What a great shame that one cannot have a good puff indoors anymore.

The Gyngleboy immediately attracts your attention with its name and convenient location and once you're inside it is no different. It oozes real English pub authenticity and idiosyncracy.

The food in here is standard pub grub but it is cooked, presented and served well, so is an ideal place to visit for lunch or a relaxed dinner. The Gyngleboy is worth going in, if only to ask what the name means!

Just curious about taking my daughter in? She is 13 ;not to drink of course but just eat and enjoy the experience.
