The ViewLondon Review
A decent bar ideally located by Charing Cross and Embankment tube stations, Ha Ha Bar will have you laughing all the way to the bank with its reasonably priced, quality beverages. The VenueThis surprisingly sophisticated bar is tucked away by the side of Charing Cross train station - easy to miss, but that would be a mistake as this is an excellent choice for a drink or three. Walking through large glass double doors of Ha Ha Bar you are greeted by waiters buzzing around offering you a choice of tables and waiting to take your drinks order.
The dark wood is complemented by chrome accessories and warehouse style staircase creating the ‘Industrial Chic’ look that is currently so en vogue.
The AtmosphereThe atmosphere at Ha Ha Bar is buzzing, popular with workers who pop in for a couple of drinks at lunchtime or stay until chucking out time at the end of a hard day’s graft - particularly on a Friday. This is also an ideal venue for young trendies popping up to London at the weekend, either for a few drinks en route to clubland or to settle in for the entire evening.
The DrinkThe bar list at Ha Ha Bar is impressive, with a plethora of bottled and draught beers - Leffe Blonde, Modello, Peroni and Kronenberg Blanc. Also on tap is Westons Organic Cider and London Pride Ale. The main focus, however, is on wine and Champagne, and as expected for a bar of this calibre the list is extensive. A glass of very nice Calalrasi (Italy 2006/7) is available for £4.05 a glass or £16.25 a bottle. Under each listing is a taste guide and concise description of each wine to help you to make your choice. Champagne ranges from a bottle of Laurent Perrier Cuvee Rose Brut NV for £55.00 to Krug Grande Cuvee Brut NV for £105.00 a bottle.
There is an interesting array of spirits available alongside the usual suspects. Pomegranate Caipirinha (£4.95) sounds like an interesting choice as well as some of the more refined sounding cocktails - mojitos all the way! The prices start at £5.45 a glass or £10.95 a jug. If you are on the wagon there is a list of mouthwatering smoothies - strawberry and banana with milk and honey sounds like a meal in itself and will set you back £3.95. Also available are a variety of hot drinks, including English green tea, a selection of coffees. If you fancy a treat then why not try an indulgent hot drink? Coffee with a shot of Baileys £3.00 for a regular or £3.30 for a double.
The Last WordHa Ha Bar is a decent bar in the heart of the West End, with a bit of eye candy behind the bar thrown in for good measure! It won’t even break the bank - definitely worth a visit.
