Had my 40th at the Hat&Tun last Saturday. The party was a success and all enjoyed it. It was easy to organise (many thanks to Nadia for making it so), the food was great, service excellent and there was no shortage of drinks. The added bonus of having such a great pub all to ourselves was fantastic. I would definitely host another party there (once I've detoxed a bit!).
Had my 30th birthday party here on Saturday night and it was an excellent night. In the run up, Nadia was very helpful in arranging everything and the staff on the night were friendly and helpful, making it a really good atmosphere for a party as didn't have to worry about anything. As it's a Saturday you get the whole pub to yourself which is great, the perfect way to celebrate with your friends.
The most perfect venue for my 'Beating Cancer' celebration. Such a versatile venue, I organised an auction, had amazing food and throw a party! Nothing was to much for the team, they all bent over backwards to help with any request and were always smiling! I would defnatly recommend this venue and hope to be organising some more celebrations at their venues soon. Thanks again guys, it was a week ago now ad people are still talking about how great the night was!
The perfect venue for a 30th birthday! They looked after us perfectly and gave us a night to remember thanks to the location, atmosphere, staff and food...thanks so much!
We had a joint 30th Birthday at the Hat and Tun and the evening was brilliant.
In the run up to the party, Nadia was really helpful with suggestions and all the planning and helping us to coordinate the flowers and cakes into the pub.
The food was excellent and presented beautifully, with so many comments from our guests, which I passed onto the staff on the nights.
The staff were professional and really helpful which made all the guests feel at ease and did the little things like bringing the veggie food to the vegetarians.
There is nothing I could fault and I would like to thank everyone for making the evening such a success.
We had a 1920's prohibition party which worked really well in the venue and we had space in the back for a roulette table.
Thank you all for making the evening so perfect and I would recommend you to any of my friends looking for a similar event.
My wife and I booked a 30th birthday party for her at the Hat & Tun, and it is an excellent venue. The management are very friendly and responsive, and made the booking process easy, as well as being very helpful in relation to logistics (DJ recommendation, cake delivery, etc).
The staff on the night were professional and courteous, and the place itself was spotless and a really nice place to party. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Hat & Tun to friends, and several of our guests mentioned how much they liked the place.
I booked that Hat & Tun for a birthday party recently and it really worked well as a venue.
It is free to book, but there is a required minimum bar spend on a Saturday night which at £1K is easily competitive; other places I contacted were around the £3K mark. £1K may sound like a lot but I had c. 70 people there and met this with no trouble.
The venue is both central and a bit off-the-beaten-track, which means it feels quite private. The staff were excellent, they were there when they said they would be and worked hard to make sure the evening ran smoothly.
I was very pleased with this as a venue and would definitely recommend it and use it again.
I held my 30th Birthday at the Hat & Tun last Saturday and I was very pleased with my choice.
The staff were professional and responsive before the evening and the food served and bar staff were great on the night.
Location is good, decor is nice, overall a very positive experience, i would definitely recommend.
I had my 40th birthday party at the Hat and Tun, and the venue was perfect. It looks like a country hunting lodge, but in the city of London, and perfect for the 70 plus friends that turned up. My friends thought that I must have spend a lot to hire such a great venue for a private party on a sat evening, but it was free, although I am reluctant to tell them that :)
The stuffed animal heads on the wall did get some comment from my veggie/vegan friends, but they added to the country feeling to the place.
Highly recommended as an alternative to the over stylised and overpriced London bars!
The Hat and Tun is a great little pub, one of the best I've ever been in.
I am lucky in that the pub is close to my office and I frequent it many lunch times and evenings. Great variety of beer well kept and good affordable food. Staff is very friendly and they are making really welcoming atmosphere. The hard part is keeping away!
I've just caught the review posted by a guest last week and I would just like to say that this could not be further from the truth about the Hat and Tun.
We go to the pub quiz at The Hat and Tun every week and absolutely love the team and the food. We don't always win the quiz but the great atmosphere and service keeps us coming back week after week.
Keep up the good work!
Our company is moving office and we went to investigate the neighborhood for a 'local'. On our first 'company outing', we went there and thought this was a good local - and spent shit loads of money. The next day, we went for a cheeky pint on our lunch...and it was a completely different story.
A group of 5 of us went in to be told that the big tables are reserved for people who eat. Fair enough. We were told we could sit on one of the smaller tables if we only wanted a drink. Not even half way through our pint, the manager came up to us to tell us we needed to free up the table for 2 people who came in to eat...even though there was a table free right next to us. The two people were horrified to see we were being booted off the table for them and told the manager that it was wrong to expect that and left. The manager insisted that it was what he needed to do and after a brief discussion about Customer Service, he admitted he didn't handled the situation very well.
The situation wasn't handled well and I vowed I would never go there again...oh - and I've warned the people I've worked with. Tough.
I hired the Hat & Tun for my 30th Birthday this weekend. I found it to be an excellent venue for a private party.
It's large enough to have a decent amount of people with room for a DJ and dancing. As it's just off the main road if feels secluded and you don't get strays walking in from the street!
It's rustic without being grungey.I honestly can't be complimentary enough about the level of service we received.
All through the booking process and the lead up to the event the Events Manager, Nadia, was in regular contact with me, was very informative and very responsive to my requests.
On the night the manager, Romeo, and the barman were fantastic. They made me and my guests feel extremely welcome and well looked after.
All my friends commented on just how impressed they were with the service. It made a massive difference to our night. I can't recommend The Hat & Tun highly enough.
Great new pub to open in EC1, really well run, and the food is reasonable, good for after work and a little lunch time snack. I will revisit.
