Booked in for a meal 6th March (Sunday night) at 7.30pm. Quite looking forward to it as had heard good things. We arrived a little early so had a drink downstairs in Mark’s Bar which was lovely – staff were attentive which as it turns out is in total contrast to the restaurant. At 10 past 8, we hadn’t heard anything from the hostess so went upstairs to ask and she said we could be seated. We ordered drinks, which came swiftly but waited maybe 25mins for someone to notice we hadn’t ordered food. With the restaurant not quite half full I was surprised at the lack of attention from the wait staff. The starters were good so I was looking forward to the main. I ordered the lamb (4 cuts) and unfortunately when it arrived, it was luke warm – I would have sent it back but gave up after waiting a while to get the attention of a waiter, feeling incredibly guilty that my friend was waiting and his food was getting cold. Two of the cuts were inedible cold – the meatball so cold in the middle that it tasted like it had just come out the fridge and a high fat cut that tasted awful cold.

I certainly don’t blame this on the kitchen as I believe they would have plated this up hot. I think the food had been sitting in the food lift for a while before it was noticed. The wait staff were inattentive, slow and acted like they couldn’t be bothered being there.

I would drink at the bar again as the experience was good and staff lovely. As for the restaurant, I’ve had a better dining experience at Pizza Express.

Very average & very expensive for what we got. On the positive side the staff were excellent, sadly not match by the food.

Not bad in terms of actual quality of cooking, but this is a straight talking sort of food with somewhat crude delivery on the taste buds.

The height of the meal was the beefeater sloe gin jelly (get five to seven of those and you will be happy), the rest of the meal was average, the mussels were fresh but sandy, the hanger beef was quite chewy but lacked anything spectacular to moderate that.

Although I enjoyed it on the day, would not come back, the place seriously lacks atmosphere, it just feels like it was set up in a rush.
