I recommended this bar as a meeting place for friends to meet pre-theatre last night, as I'd enjoyed a gin & tonic there last time I went to the theatre. Turns out Homage isn't open to the general public any more, so we went to the Waldorf's champagne bar. I arrived after my friends, who already had their drinks. I waited for someone to come and see if I needed anything, like a glass for the wine we already had. Nothing happened, so I walked up to the bar and asked for a glass. A snooty woman sent me back to my table, saying it was table service only. I returned to my table, expecting a staff member to bring me a glass. Instead, a waitress came and asked me what I wanted. Since all the staff had heard me ask Ms Snooty for a glass, this question was just rude. My friends had ordered snacks but they took over half an hour to arrive. The snacks were OK but the behaviour of the staff have ruined this place for me. I won't be visiting or recommending The Waldorf Hilton again. It's only a Hilton for goodness' sake! I go to far smarter places quite regularly and am treated as an honoured guest, not something stuck to a shoe.
