What can I say was in Wimbeldon on Friday night enjoying the evening moving from bar to bar as you do as there are so many cool & funky bars there, and what I thought was going to happen has House bar is no longer open - what a suprise, wasnt just the reviewers of view london who thought the same as me! I hope the next people who take over will maybe have some experience in customer service, cleanliness & a better attitude! Its not about just having special offers and 241 any place can have that! Oh well cant say the place will be missed.
Im not sure if the person below went to the same place but its pretty daft to say that its overpriced considering they have 2 for 1 cocktails almost every night. Iv been there more than once and have enjoyed myself every time. The staff are great and friendly. They are always on the ball and always have a smile on their face. Myself and my friends have always been treated really well. The decor is beautiful and the music is great. Sometimes its difficult to keep the chavs away like it is at EVERY bar but it has a great vibe! I would recommend house bar to everyone. TEAM HOUSE BAR :)
not sure the person below went to the same place? lol BUT I'm surprised this place is still open considering how unhygienic it is. I didn't even use the toilet's it smelt that bad.
The one thing that is nice is the decor - I think that's the only thing the management did think about.
There was sick on the sofa where we wanted to sit on and tried to get the attention of the really helpful staff which was impossible! This place is great IF your already smashed and not worried about having a pleasant evening. its way Overpriced and attracts a dodgy crowd. Avoid!
Wimbledon IS an affluent area with lovely places to dine, this place brings the area down.
Unbelievable!. I have been in wimbledon for just over 6 months and House Bar is a breathe or fresh air compared to the other bars in wimbledon. From the friendly crazy staff, the unbelievable cocktails to the music and lay out everything just sets the mood for a good night out! I would recommend housebar to everyone who is looking for A spectacular night out!
I would NOT recommend house bar at all, I had been there a few times and each visit was less pleasant than the previous one. The staff are just plain rude at the best of times and the bathrooms are a complete joke! Management is delusional to say the least. I had gone there one afternoon with 3 friends and requested to sit at a table and even asked the manager if the table in question was booked or reserved for the evening to which he replied "no", not even two hours later a crowd of dodgy people walk in requesting "their usual table" and we were forced to move out because the table was magically "reserved", this made me extremely angry!
Since its conception, the standards have dropped tremendously and I will never step foot in there, nor will I recommend it to anyone living here or abroad. I WOULD RATHER CHEW MY OWN ARM OFF THAN GO BACK TO HOUSE BAR!!!
House Bar smells like the puzzle. The floor had not been swept, the tables had not been wiped down and it was 6:30pm on a thursday evening with about 3 staff milling around and we were the only people in there. So clearly you had time to do cleaning. It also smelt like stale smoke and the glass on the doors and mirrors were all smudged and dirty. The ladies loos were in shocking condition. Someone can't be bothered to refill the toilet roll and there are engravings on the walls and doors as if 5 year olds had been using this as their playground. Although trying to be top end design, white upholstry is not the most appropriate colour as it shows up the dirt given that cleanliness is not the bars forte. Try another bar!
Went couple weeks back. Looks Ok from the outside, decor is nice enough.
However.
This place falls down in a few specific areas. Firstly, none of the pumps were working. The only 2 beers they had were Corona and Becks. Not ideal. Especially when they then run out of Corona at around 10pm! But they ran out of Limes long before that!
Staff. Very hit n miss! One girl was great. One guy was awful. Deciding to ignore guys at the bar in favour of serving group after group of girls. Until a short sharp "OI!" from a friend alerted him to our presence! Another bar staff clearly didn't know cocktails ingredients so was having to keep referring to a "how to"
Cleanliness. Clearly in this world there are people that cannot handle their drink. But when one of those patrons let go over the bar I expect a swift clean up! Not 10+mins! In fact another customer actually stepped and then leaned in the mess! Simply not acceptable! Same as the amount of rubbish left on the bar. Used glasses, general waste etc
Overall, I get the impression this place is closing VERY soon. The staff have stopped caring, the management have stopped caring. I daresay the bad location has hurt, but if you build a good bar they will come. And in Wimbledon they are not exactly without competition.
I have to agree with the comments below. The place is at the wrong end of Wimbledon and should stay there, from the outside it looks nice but when you enter its a different story, the toilets are a mess the people who serve you are rude, had friends come over from South Africa and I was totally embarrassed when I went there, I can get better cape snoek!
Will not be going there again, and if you were thinking about going there don't and cetainly do not take anyone from sa there!
