Jack Horner is a decent mid-way drinking hole in the middle of one of the capital’s most bustling areas.

The Venue
Smack bang in the middle of Tottenham Court Road you’ll find the Jack Horner pub. Situated on the corner of Bayley Street and overlooking the busy road, this pub is not somewhere to come for a peaceful, quiet drink, but does provide a welcome respite from the madness of the road outside.

With it’s traditional pub decor, the Jack Horner has an inviting feel to weary shoppers and tired office workers looking for a quick pint. The outside of the pub looks clean and well maintained; a pretty shrubbery runs along one side of the main entrance, and there are tables and chairs on the pavement outside – a popular choice in the summer. Upon entering, you are greeted with a large, square-shaped bar in the centre of the room with several stools propped up against it. There is a wide choice of seating areas, from comfy couch-like seats to the more traditional wooden tables and chairs.

The Atmosphere
The Jack Horner is quite a large pub, and on Friday nights you’ll find many people squeezed inside. However, due to its size it never gets uncomfortably packed, and you can usually find a space to put your pint down. Popular with workers in the local area, the Jack Horner attracts a wide range of people, from suited and booted office workers, to the media types who work on nearby Charlotte Street. As it’s only a short walk from the Dominion Theatre, you will often find a few theatre-goers having a quick drink and a bite to eat before the show starts.

There is always a busy, bustling atmosphere in this pub, and it can get loud on busy nights. The outside seating area is very popular in the summer, again because of its large size. Considering the location of the pub, you’ll be hard pushed to find a decent place to sit outside, but the Jack Horner certainly makes the most of its location. When the weather is warm, you’ll find a large gaggle of people standing outdoors having a drink.

The Food
As part of the Fullers Ale and Pie House chain, the Jack Horner offers a tempting menu with many traditional British favourites, not to mention a full page on its menu devoted to pies. The steak and ale pie is a particularly popular choice.

For those wanting a slightly lighter meal they also offer a wide range of snacks and nibbles. Whilst the food inside isn’t exactly gourmet, it’s quick and easy for those who want their bellies filled either after work or before a show.

The Drink
Typical pub prices are in force inside. A good range of traditional beers and ales are on offer, and several choices of wine, too.

The Last Word
Jack Horner is a decent choice for post work drinking and pre theatre snacking.
