The ViewLondon Review
There’s definitely something suitable about the name of this stylish Soho bar, as the passionate staff seem so set on ensuring you have a good time it’s virtually a foregone conclusion you'll be slurring, Jus one more jrink, before the end of the night. The VenueThe bar's location tucked away in the depths of Soho is perfect casting – the distance from the major hustle and bustle ensures that Jrink avoids the faceless stereotype of the major bars in the area and is just hidden away enough to garner an enticing mystique.
The interior plays host to a sometimes uncomfortably skinny walkway but otherwise the limited space has been used well, with scattered seating, a long bar and an ample dance floor. There is even an extremely deceptive mirrored back wall which makes the bar appear much larger, whilst also wreaking perceptive havoc with the more inebriated of its bar flies.
The AtmosphereDespite the name, there's nothing gimmicky about this bar, an admirable feat considering its location. The personality of the two owners (who can be regularly spotted behind the bar) is stamped all over Jrink, and enjoyment reigns supreme, resulting in a bar that’s not weighed down by an effort to impress.
Even the picture of Tom Cruise peering down at the bar staff from his Cocktail heyday somehow manages to look neither naff nor contrived, acting instead as amusing proof of the bar’s ambivalence toward pretension. Most nights see better than average DJs whipping up a funky selection whilst their impressive specialist music nights are already getting a reputation for all the right reasons.
The DrinkThe wide selection of drinks and their friendly prices continue the tone of excellent hospitality. The wine list is well thought out and offers exceptional value for money and superbly mixed cocktails don’t change prices even if you prefer a more expensive brand of spirit. There is also admirable generosity in their measures. Mojitos (well, it is Soho…) aren't only delicious they also have a definite kick and are very reasonably priced at just over £6.
The Last WordJrink’s emphasis on ensuring Londoners have a good time is one of the reasons it is doing so well. Go and get jrunk and find out for yourself.
