Friendly local with great bar-staff and fantastic "drop-in" atmosphere.

The beer-garden is an added bonus for those of us who still enjoy a puff. I've been going to the Eddie for years as an irregular-regular and the welcome is always cheerful and it's the one place in Islington that has enough bar-staff to customer ratio.

The drinks promos are also great. A gr8 alternative to the more swishy and transient venues in Islington.Long may it continue.

Jonsi, Shoreditch.

It's a bit naff to be truthful. An old style bar posing as new. There is a reasonable selection of beers, wines as spirits as you would hope (given that it is a bar)!Music comes in two forms: too loud or non-existent.

Worst of all, the bar staff are too busy mucking about between themselves and not paying attention to their customers.

Consequently people sometimes get fed up waiting and just walk to one of the other nearby gay bars in Angel.

One reviewer mentioned that it was full of men and no females. My only experience of a female in the EddieVI was an extremely drunk Australian woman who was: loud, vulgar, swaying and on occasions sobbing during the 15 minutes I endured her.

It's a place I go to 3 or 4 times a year, when I've arrived too early for a film at the local cinema, but to sit in there for a whole evening would be a fate worse than death.
