Quaint, cute, kitsch. Kiss the Sky is a gorgeous little bar that puts its own twist on the usual drinking experience with events like vegan singles nights. Seriously.

The Venue
Kiss the Sky may not look like much from the outside – a small bar with large front windows painted in a, frankly, rather hideous blue and orange. However, those large windows offer a sneak peek at what is actually a gorgeous, if diminutive, space within. Inside, a tiny bar sits tucked into one corner while the small room is filled with low tables and mismatched chairs and benches. So far, so uninspiring. However, what this bar has done fantastically well is to dress up the small space with funky decorative embellishments. The cream wall is intersected by exposed brick and cute artwork. Two large mirrors sit on one feature wall shaped like angel wings while the small bar is covered in swirling shapes of blue and white with a few mirrors to add even more interest. The piece de resistance, however, is a huge feature light that dominates the room. Hard to describe, it almost looks like a chandelier made up of huge wooden spoons painted in white. Confused? Just head down yourself and make your own interpretation of what basically is an art installation. There is also a small downstairs area with a stage for their events and, if the weather is nice, it’s worth checking out their large patio area outside.

The Atmosphere
Kiss the Sky is every bit the kind of neighbourhood bar that makes Hampstead such a nice area to visit and even live in. And this is reflected in their events, which puts a twist on the bog standard pub and bar nights. A good example of this is their Veg ‘n’ Singles event, which involves vegan grub from the Karma Free Pizza Company and cute guys and gals looking for love. They mix this up with open mic evenings, live music, poetry nights, comedy, DJs and table tennis. Yup, eclectic. And then there’s the free wi-fi for all of their customers and 10% off for NHS card holders. Nice.

The Drink
The bar offers a succinct cocktail menu with a few unique options like their Kiss the Sky cocktail, all priced at under £7 (the average for Hampstead) with daily happy hours between 5pm and 7pm. They also offer a couple of rare beers at the pumps, which is good to see given the small size of the bar, in the form of Flensburger and Lindeboom.

The Last Word
Kiss the Sky is a great bar that’s pushing the boundaries to ensure that it appeals to as many people as possible. Worth making the trip to check it out.
