When yearning for some instant Mediterranean sunshine, look no further than the Spanish tapas restaurant La Tasca, which exudes a warm orange glow, serves up delicious food and offers traditional Spanish hospitality.

The Venue
La Tasca is a chain of restaurants that are found all over the UK. Each branch is authentically Spanish yet possesses it’s own unique spirit. This branch can be found on St James Street and can take you miles away from the hustle and bustle of Central London into a Spanish la isla Bonita. The restaurant provides outdoor dining and indoors is divided into two sections with the bar holding court in the middle. If you’re looking for something a little more intimate, why not book the charming private room where you can wine and dine up to 25 of your nearest and dearest.

The Atmosphere
La Tasca radiates a warm vibe: the amber walls are covered with paintings; the seats are wrought iron; and chandeliers hang down from the ceiling. Each table is donned with a candle placed in a wine bottle, with wax spilling over the edges. Tapas servings are small, so you create your own experience, ordering many and trying lots of different dishes for a filling meal or ordering less for a quick snack - it’s all about sharing and having a good time.

The Food
You can start with olive bread, then choose from a wide range of seafood, chicken, meat or vegetable tapas - eat one, eat them all, the choice is yours. Some of the more popular tapas includes Gambas Pil Pil, Costtillas de Cerdo and Calamares Andaluza, which range from £3-£5. Paellas are to share and come with rice, of course, and are topped with chicken, seafood and Spanish sausage. The food tastes great and the seafood paella is a must try. To satisfy your sweet tooth indulge in Mousse de Crema Catalana, the pecan pie or something more Spanish like the Helado de Vanilla con Pedro Ximinez (quite a mouthful), which is ice cream with a cheeky shot of Spanish sherry.

The Drink
Keep the wine flowing and choose from the extensive Spanish wine list, or treat yourself to a bottle of Champagne. A pitcher of festive sangria is a must and costs between £12-£16. You can even down an after dinner drink like the Pacharan, which has a twist of sweet aniseed. Plain old tea and coffee is also available.

The Last Word
In the mood for a fiesta? You can enjoy the Spanish spirit without hopping on a jet plane, make a bee line to St James Street and enjoy some Spanish fun, filled with laughter and good food at La Tasca.
