Levant may be one of London's best kept secrets. This bar is a hidden gem in truly chic Middle Eastern style located in a small alleyway off Wigmore Street.

The Venue
Once you have found Jason Court at 76 Wigmore Street and descend the dark stairway the glamour of this exotic Lebanese bar will immediately strike you. The decor is in authentic Lebanese style reminiscent of Fakhreddine’s palace in the hills north of Beirut. There are beautiful low lit lamps, carved friezes and rose petals are scattered on the marble floors. Comfort combined with elegance is the name of the game in this bar which offers cushioned benches and seats.

The Atmosphere
Although this bar offers a chic ambiance worthy of five stars the atmosphere is relaxed not least because of the low lighting and gentle Middle Eastern music. Go there on Sundays with a couple of friends and you will enjoy peace and quiet along with a three tiered tray of sweets nuts and Turkish Delight. Alternatively visit Levant on a Friday evening for an atmosphere that is lively and vibrant and complete with belly dancer, even if a little crowded.

The Drink
The most exciting drink sampled here is not alcoholic but a Lebanese date and banana smoothie served for £4.50 in a very large glass. Other fruit smoothies such as mango, passion fruit or apple and mint are also available. The house wine is Lebanese Ksara wine from the Bekaa valley. The flavour of the month among the cocktails is a concoction of vodka, mint, lemon juice and syrup for £7.50.

The Last Word
This is a great bar to visit for a special occasion – beautiful and in a good location.
