Went for a social evening, had reservations ,table was not ready for about 45mins,place was packed, ambience was great and decor really lovely, service was slow, food was really poor and menu was over priced especially because it was a li'ming set menu which was a rip off cause u share everything and was not worth the price, sent back an order and manager was not happy to take it off the bill and was condescending, other than the food and the service loved the entertainment but im sure their are better places to spend your money, for 4 ppl bill was 250...way too high...
A nice place for a saturday night out, great selection of music (arabic+main stream), good belly dance show, we had tons of fun celebrating my bday. Although if my fiance wasn't watching the bill, we would be overcharged by a mile. I personally hate when management team takes advantage of people who drink and are having a great time, they probably think the customers wouldn't notice a few drinks added on their bill. I was not expecting that as all the staff were really nice to us. When we told them that there were drinks on our bill that we did not order, the manager didn't really complain and took them out of our bill. So, all in all, we had a great time, but the management shouldn't really think they can get away with the sneakiness that was going on. Can be dangerous.
Levant is a fun place a great atmosphere for a boys night out. As for the food its strictly ok I liked the lamb kofte.
They have a good variation of middle eastern cocktails. Its expensive but a good night out.
I took some friends to this restaurant for their 40th birthdays - and I have to say, we didn't have the best time. The atmosphere is busy (too busy) with belly dancers, incense, great decor with a loud party feel. On seating, we were told that we could only order from the preset menu at £40 per head and so we did not really have much of a choice. Secondly, we had 3 vegetarians and 1 meat eater and were initially told we could only have 2 veg and 2 meat set meals - after some debate, they finally allowed us to have 3 veg, 1 meat.
For £160, we had a few tasty dishes (meze style) - all fresh and well presented but rather small - moussaka and lamb main dish, again tasty but not hot - a rack of deserts, fruits, nuts and mint tea. We also purchased some wine which was too young and fizzy and asked for this to be changed - the staff seemed rather surprised!
At £21 a bottle, I would say I expected a good wine.Overall, the food is great but grossly over priced and the lack of choice in individual dishes (because they said they were just too busy) is a real con forcing you to spend £40 each. The service is poor, unfriendly and reinforces that this place is set up to make money and not to provide customer value and service - we had to wait nearly 1/2hr to get someones attention to get the bill - shocking! I personally would not recommend this place.
We went here last night and had the Levant set menu which was more than enough. Even when we were full to bursting out came the fruit, Turkish delight and sweets which we had to try and nearly finished. The service was good and unlike other Levant reviews, we found the staff to be helpful, polite and were not rushed in the slightest.
I usually love Levant, and take lots of friends, but on Saturday the service was really slow and no-one looked like they cared. Big shame, Levant.
I took my husband to Levant when we had a stop over in London (March 2006), it was my second time but his first. Got a little lost getting there and the hotel next door let up use their VIP/back door to get in. Wow.
The food at Levant was fantastic, we took the set menu and plenty of cocktails (not cheap but worth every penny) The fruit, cakes, turkish delight and mint tea were a great finish to the meal and we did manage a nibble of each even though we were full to bursting. We wobbled out after 3 hours of eating and one too many of the chilli and pasion fruit cocktails.
I found Levant deeply disappointing. The beer was served warm as and no alternative was offered, or money deducted from the bill. We booked weeks in advance for a night starting at 7.30, only to be told when we arrived that we had to leave early as the table was booked for another party.
Then when the belly dancer reached our table she looked at her watch and left without dancing. Oh, yes and I thought the food was poor. We will not be going back to Levant.
