The ViewLondon Review
Known in Soho as ‘the place where things get messy’, you might not mean to end up in this tiny, grubby little bar, club and restaurant, singing along to Frank Sinatra and necking another vodka - but you probably will at some point. The VenueLittle Italy, in the midst of Soho on Frith Street, feels like it could be someone’s living room; well, if the someone in question liked low ceilings, loud music, and lots of pictures of Italian mobsters. It’s pretty small, but goes back quite far, with the bar at the front and the dancefloor at the back.
The AtmosphereThere’s a surprisingly good atmosphere at Little Italy: everyone genuinely looks like they're having fun. Even the vast quantity of alcohol doesn’t turn the atmosphere sour, with grown men kissing each other on the cheek and linking arms to sing along to classic cheesy tunes. There are a lot of suits: this is something of a work night out hotspot. Be warned, they do play That’s Amore.
The FoodVarious Italian staples are served up at Little Italy earlier in the evening, which are OK and of reasonable value. The joint seems to come into its own later in the night though when the music is turned up and the tables cleared away.
The DrinkLittle Italy is a little pricey, but then this is Central London. Most punters’ main concern seem to be that there is drink available - and lots of it - hang the price.
The Last WordA drinking hole and dancing spot for when all the others are closed. Little Italy is free to get in, and is rumoured to never close. Whilst that must be rubbish, your liver (and your dancing feet) wouldn’t want you to be the one to test it out.
