I went here last night, and although it was good fun their drinks are DEF watered down. I ordered a vodka and coke, the coke came out of a bottle, so it's not as though their was anything wrong with the coke, but what I got basically tasted like water with a hint of coke. I tried to complain, but he said I was being cheeky as the ice had melted and wouldn't give me anything in return. the cocktails are priced at £13 a cocktail, did not even feel an effect from them. If you go here I would say to drink bottles as anything that's a sprit is just for water, for sure.
The best place in London! I have just celebrated a family members birthday and had the most amazing time I've had in a while! I go to many bars and restaurants on the weekends but I've never been to a place like little Italy Soho. The food was out of this world with such a wide selection to choose from. The music created a fantastic atmosphere for all ages and the service was absolutely 1st class! Everyone who went said the exact same thing. If you are looking for a romantic evening dinner or want to celebrate a special occasion there is no other place in London I could recommend above Little Italy! Enjoy the fun can't wait for my next visit!
I go to Little Italy often as love the atmospere there, and for the first time I decided to do my Bday celebration there with a proper dinner and everything what comes with it. I read quite a few worrying reviews about this place so was in a hesitation at first. Mistake. I had THE BEST time I could have possibly had. Starting with a classy and nicely decorated table, champagne on arrival, which was a very nice welcoming. Our waiters were friendly and attentive. The manager was excellent and they all made my evening unforgettable. ;o) This place was packed with ladies so guys.....Candy shop ;o)....The DJ played a wide range of music, from 80`s, cheesy, to all the hits u can shake ur asset to...I am very critical regarding venues and reviews, but this was one of the best nights I ever had in London (and I go out quite a lot). It can appear a bit pricey but hey....if you wanna enjoy urself, it doesn`t really matter...once a year ;o)) The food- yummy, delicious, from the starters to the dessert. Ace. Recommended to everyone who wants to have a great nite in London
Eight of us went there after a show last night. Ive seen loads of bad comments on different sites about this place but I can honestly say, we all had a fantastic time!!! I think its the sort of place to go to drink and dance rather than eat. Will definately go back.
ABSOLUTLY AWFUL!!! Last night we (Colleagues AGED BETWEEN 26-60) attended the restaurant/bar/disco for our Christmas night out. A table was booked for 28 people at the cost of £46 pp! When the menu was pinned up at work I wasn't too excited. I decided to wait in case there was a menu change on the night, there wasn't! I had pumpkin soup, turkey dinner and choc tart (which was a crumb on your plate!). Overall the food was not great, but it was edible! The staff were very slow to take our drink orders and after 20 mins of waiting we went to the bar ourself! A bottle of hse wine was £22 and Pinot Grigio £26!! A total rip off. I had asked for a glass of lemonade and he opened 4 cans of airline cans (mini cans u get on planes!) and charged me £4! The second glass cost £3!! So they are making up the prices as they go along.During the meal the waitress repeatedly kept passing the food across our faces and knocking into us,. She was rude and obnoxious! Our tables were cleared so we could have a dance floor. This space was in between staircases and no bigger than a large lift space! Ridiculous!!After dancing we turned and found the staff had taken a full bottle of wine from our table. When we asked where had it gone, the waitress screamed in my face, she asked everyone if it was theirs and everyone said no! There were 15 people in that space at the time and she didn't ask one of us! I asked to speak to the manager and she said NO! I asked you if it was yours and you said NO! As the only one not drinking, I know whether or not she asked me. I grabbed the manager as he tried to dodge me as he saw I had had a run in with his staff! He tried to brush me off until I threatened to call the authorities as I believed they are taking bottles away and re-selling the open bottle of wine as glasses of wine behind the bar! BIG SCAM. When I said this he retracted, replaced our bottle of wine and gave us another on the house! WILL NEVER RETURN OR RECOMMEND THE RESTAURANT TO ANY1
A total rip off! Drinks priced at £12, glass of wine £7.50!my friend ordered whiskey with coke at the bar and she was served a WHOLE glass of whiskey and a tiny can of coke- she ended up paying £20! even though it was a misunderstanding, the bartrnder refused to accept it back.I overheard someone else at the bar who argued with the manager that she orderd 4 shots of vodka but she was given 8! had to pay for it.Definately not going back!!!
Never never ever again!
It was my friend birthday on Tuesday 12/4/11 we found the bar staff rude. Bouncers are rude. She was dancing and one bouncer came up to her saying he don't like the way she dance, ( why do we need to go dance class to dance in such place) she ignored him ,he pushed and hold her from the neck throwing her outside. I was like what is going on!! i asked what happen, i got thrown too out side he pushed and touched me and we are GIRLS.. police came but it was nearly closing time, they closed quickly and run off, We are pressing charges. He is being rude racist to my friend calling her a man! maybe they need to ask people how they dance before letting them in!! RUDE RUDE Staff. Even asking for a manager we wasn't allowed to see him! how rude the bouncers can be!! Avoid at all costs this places , drinks are pricey and staff are clever filling the glass with lots of ice and less drink. I spoke to the manager on phone next day , whom said he can't do nothing and he was backing his own staff, he even refused to watch the CCTV to see that we didn't do anything. Big mistake going there , Avoid this place at all cost , avoid avoid!!
I will not be going to this restaurant again. I had heard good reviews and we are always on the lookout for a good restaurant in London.
We had the Lunch menu, and I have to say it was not up to standard. I had the chicken it was dry, overcooked with no sauce to be able to chew it, the Soup was uninspiring, the chocolate brownie the only thing that was good. The crowning glory were the coffee's, cold, old and bitter. Not one of the waitresses took any notice of our comments or left over food.
I won't even believe the critic's advice on a good restaurant either.
It was our 35th Wedding anniversary celebration, so a big thank you to you all!
My advice is not to go to Little Italy. I certainly won't be going again.
Although the restaurant is nicely decorated and the staff appeared accomodating (at first), it did not live up to the "reputation" it seems to have.
The drinks and food are overpriced. Apparently the only ingredient the chef is aware of is salt which my main course was literally marinated in. As were all 7 of the other main courses and we consquently couldn't eat it.
When we brought this up with the waiter he just gave us a dirty look and got the manager who proceeded to tell us, "well we had no complaints over the christmas period" and walked away, without even offering some kind of compensation.
Having worked in restauarnts myself I found it absurd that the manager herself could be so ignorant.
We refused to pay the service charge. But still ended up paying £58 a head for unedible food.
I don't reccomend it to anyone at all. You would be better off at McDonalds (probably less salt content) And better service.
Obviously the people that have given good reviews have not been recentley, or have plenty of money or are friends or celebs as they obviously get treated differently to us mere mortals! 10 of us girls went there on saturday nite for a 30th birthday to eat and have the evening to celebrate. The price on the menu was more than was thought when booked and on enquiring was told by the manager that basically if we dont like the price then go! Also we quired the bill after meal as they had added 12% service charge and another member of management was very rude. They all need educating in customer care as we spent a fortune on food and drink and were treated appaling.
Will not be going back in a hurry! ive never been to a resturant ware the staff were so RUDE!! wen me & my friends was given our menus it was a very differnt price to what was given on booking, when we politely questioned a member of staff about this we was told if we are not happy with it then we can leave! unbelievable!! this very arogant attitude continued throughout the evening! we informed a member of management about this & this very rude lady could not care less!! as for the prices you pay & the food is something that could be warmed up by a 5 year old disgusting!! if your feeling thirsty after they will only serve doubles at the bar so your are muged into paying £10 for one drink! a lot of money for not much wiv poor customer service! the place is just a joke!!
Having been to Little Italy before and enjoyed it a return was on the cards as the theatre was just around the corner and as it was pouring with rain I was not inclined to examine the menus of neighbouring eateries. Big mistake. Whilst the decor and service is good you now pay one hell of a premium for this and the food and wine. Even taking the set pre theatre menu and a bottle of Chianti the bill for two came to £112. A single shot Bloody Mary cost £12! Having eaten at some of the best there is in the uk and abroad this was a rip off. Stay clear unless you have more money than sense. Or a large expense account and could not care less.
Little Italy is a strange little venue. Well, its not exactly small, as it spreads across three floors. I have visited only the bar area on the ground floor for which I will site my experience.
Starting with some good comments, the bar has a nice little collection of spirits - nothing extraordinary for the demanding drinker but it would probably suit most visitors. There is certainly loads of buzz after midnight; I can't say I didn't enjoy the atmosphere every time I have been there with people being relaxed, chatty and dancing.
On the other side is the service, the communication with the staff and the managers, the drinks and the prices.
Although advertising its cocktail menu I can say with confidence the Italian bartenders are incapable to mix and balance a simple classic cocktail. Praise to their efforts though, to compensate their incompetence with made-up confidence, I am sure it works for those “digging” typical Italian behavior. The price we paid for under-poured drinks (less than 50ml of the main spirit) is was £12. It isn’t uncommon to pay such prices in London but I would expect the measures to reflect the price. Finally we get to the manager I encountered, I middle-aged woman who on their busiest night was dressed like she was going to Tesco for groceries. She didn’t seem to fit in, she looked frustrated although it was 23.30 and quite rude for no particular reason.
The conclusion is that I would go to Little Italy again if invited, never deliberately. I would arrive there already drunk with a small bottle of booze in my jacket. I don’t mind spending £4 for a bottle of lager (no pints are available) but having rounds in that sort of place makes no sense.
Mostly excellent music, atmosphere terrific. Didn't eat there so can't comment on food.
I went there with a couple of mates for dinner and i found the place absolutely fantastic. Perfectly situated as it is near other night life.
Little Italy's food was fantastic, i recommend the escalope which was the best escalope i have ever had.
The staff are very friendly. The owner is a very nice man as. The atmosphere is great there aswell.
The music is great. Guarantee you will have a great time. I Recommend to anyone.
Vile food and rude service. They obviously use frozen fish as it tasted like cotton.
When I confronted the owners about it they acknowledged they use frozen fish and then made some excuse for it.
For those prices, the food should be fresh and not bought in Chinatown frozen.
Well, I have to agree when it is said that those who have given this restaurant a bad review must have the wrong place! I've stayed in the area of this restaurant for a week and the place was always buzzing so have ventured in on more than just one or two occasions!!! The number cutomers I have talked to while in the restaurant have loved the place too. It is the best restaurant I've been to in a very long time. The meals & beverages are fantastic, the staff are a pleasure and the atmosphere after 10pm is sensational. I have never felt more welcome, a very hospitable team, I'll definately be back!!!
For a start i cannot believe that this restaurant has had any bad reviews. I am asuming they have got this confused with another little italy as i know that there are more than one in london (not by the same owners). My friends and i absolutely love this place as it is by far the best place in london. I would swap poncing around nobu or cipriani for a night in little italy any time. The food is delicious, the staff are lovely and the atmospehere is fantastic like one big party. The crowd is mixed but great, we always seem to see more than one celebrity letting there hair down on each occasion that we go. 10/10
I went there on saturday evening for a birthday celebration and Little Italy is not an Italian restaurant! They are not even able to serve for a £20 penne pasta dish with some parmesan! It was grated cheap cheese without any taste and when I told that to the waitress she didn't care at all and brought me back exactly the same bowl of grated cheese: very disappointing. Bloody expensive for what it is!
Would love to give 0 stars. Was having a drink (just my third) with a couple of friends tonight when the 'owner' suddenly started shouting that we had been taking photos of him (we weren't). His irrational shouting lead to us leaving. The bouncers seemed to have seen it all before. Having read the other reviews it seems clear. Stay well clear of this place!
where do i start the hole night was a mess first are table was not even ready then get pushed in to a small room where it was just no room to move then as a nomanated driver i found it hard to beilive that i got charged £3.50 for a glass of ice with a dash of coke (150mls) then £5.00 for a can of red bull.i a bottle of beer £4.50 cheaper then a non-alcohic drink. i will not be revisting this bar agian
I had a business lunch here yesterday. We both ordered from the 'specials' menu. My starter was pear and palma ham, with an electric blue sauce, that tasted like a cross between mouthwash and tooth paste. It was unedible and easily the worst dish I have ever been served.
I sent it back half thinking I was the butt of an elaborate joke. No joke, just frowns from the staff. The main course was cold luncheon meet, capers and a garlic dip, just about tolerable if not for the ridiculous price. I was charged for the 'exprimental' toothpaste dish with a straight face. Unbelievable.
we went to this for the dancing as we heard it was great. In fact we had a brilliant time, the musice was ace and found the atmosphere pleasurable!! : )
We would def recommend anyone going there !
We went to this restaurant for a friends 40th. having read the reviews it is fair to say that we werent looking forward to it. It was in fact great. A lovely atmosphere, good food, £75 per head (we drank a fair ammount!). The staff were lovely-polite, efficient and forever smiling. At just about 11 the music was turned up and a party atomosphere came alive with people dancing. Very good and I would recommend it.
DO NOT EVER GO TO THIS RESTAURANT.
Food - Very small portions that taste absolutely disgusting.
Service - waitresses that don't know what they are doing
Ambience - The place was extremly dark, hot and stuffy, trying to come across classy but failing miserably.
PRICE - £60 = two course + wine . What a rip off!
By far the worse meal of my life.
VISIT HERE AT YOUR PERIL!
I went on Saturday night at the recommendation of a friend. We didn't eat but were going for the bar and for a dance. The bouncers are unbelievably rude.
We were physically and verbally abused by them. Bearing in mind that I was with several other females (no males in the group), they pushed us around, threatened to hit us, swore at us, made vulga insinuations and were generally a good representative to many of the non UK national bouncers out there.
Little Italy should be ashamed.
NB once inside the place was beyond pokey with a bad atmosphere. All in all an extremely poor venue.
Terrible service, food is below average. Stay away!!
Wow such good reviews for such a crap restaurant.
The service was awful, the worst I have ever ever had. We kept being told off by the waitress for simple things like pouring water in a wine glass. Even the table next to us were being told off and we were all there to celebrate an occasion.
Food was less than average. For the money we paid I was expecting fine dining. The amount of food we got was fine dining (tiny servings). Nothing special, if they charged £5 for the main dish I wouldn't of complained, but it was a set menu for £40 and they served rubbish.
You the reader deserve better food and a better experience, stay away.
We decided to go for a late bite at Little Italy and after eating what was a scrumptuous meal the music was turned up and party time descended!
The friendly nature of Little Italy makes it perfect for something like this and you could see everybody was having a lot of fun. There's a good selection of drinks, even though the cocktails are a little pricey. Little Italy is definitely worth a visit for food or drinks. Or both!
This Little Italy in Soho is the first I have been to, having heard good reports on others. The polite and helpful staff were splendid and augmented the friendly atmosphere.
The food was pretty good but not as good as what my friends enjoyed. The fish I had was okay, but nothing exceptional. However, the music and quality wine selection quickly made me forget any negative thoughts. Little Italy still gets my thumbs up.
They call themselves Little Italy, but I think there's a few of these restaurants in London, so maybe they should rename themselves ‘Not So Little Italy’ instead? I’ve only eaten at this branch, but Little Italy do excellent Italian food and offer service with a smile.
Excellent.
Ate at the Little Italy on Frith Street for lunch and sat outside on the pavement in the sunshine. The service was great whilst the ceasar salad was exceptional. Would definitely recommend it.
