This place is wonderful. The atmosphere is relaxed but with a touch of style. The food is great; I highly recommend the anchovies and olives. The Landlord is around and very friendly which adds to the local atmosphere of the place. A real gem for the location. Maybe above average prices but worth it.
On entering this seems like a fabulous vevue.
Unfortunately the drinks are overpriced at West End levels and when the food arrives not as advertised the staff fail to tell you unless you point it out, and then fail to apologise for inaccurate orders.
Add to that staff that are more concerned with getting you out the door so they can go home early rather than facilitiating customers having a fun time and you are left feeling this is a place you'd never want to come back to.
A real shame as it could have such promise.
Don't bother - there are more welcoming and better value venues in London.
I found this carming bar delightful and real surprise for Stepney. The food was reasonably priced and didn't dissapoint. I had the burger, which was one of the best I've had, and my friend had a roast dinner, which was enormous! Really comfortable and relaxed. Sort of place you'd take your folks to......
Surely, The Michelin guide hasn't been to the place. It's ok to go for a drink but to pay £18 for Beef Wellington and get a piece of meat that you could hardly cut with a knife, it's totally unacceptable. The haddock was equally bad. To pay that sort of money and receive this kind of quality I consider it day light robbery. The strange thing was that after very politely made our views known to the waitress, she looked very surprised and didn't even say I am sorry or I let the chef know.
Since my last visit to L'Oasis there has been a significant change to the pub/restuarant with the addition of another dining room, which is no smoking ahead of next years law change. The standard of food is excellent as always, with Sunday roast being the best for miles around. The selection of wines and spirits is vast, the beer cold and ambience cool and relaxed. You could not find a better all round bar and restaurant than L'Oasis in the area with a reasonable price list as a bonus.
Literally an Oasis and retreat in the middle of Stepney and Mile End. L'Oasis is sandwiched between the pool hall and a fried chicken joint but is worlds away from both. They have a great selection of beers and all of the Havana club rums, on top of what looks like a great menu prepared in a small kitchen/grill that you can actually see!
Top place!!! I recommend L'Oasis!
