Spent two very pleasant evenings here with good food, good wine, and the men said the beer was good!! Very helpful and friendly staff, didn't need to book, though it was very busy both nights. The atmosphere was great. Perhaps the food portions from the snack menu could have been a little bigger, or perhaps we should have just ordered more! Thoroughly recommended!
Love this place. There really is no need to visit Belgium after coming here.
The food is really good for a bar. I had the best smoked haddock and will be going back very often.
Great simple food, amazing beer and incredibly friendly staff.
Excellent. Ok, I'm biased, I LOVE Belgian beers, and Lowlander is perfect for me. The selection of Belgian and Dutch beers is mind-boggling. And importantly, there are enouogh subtle but effective differences from its menu and the one offered in the Belgo/Bierodrome chain to make this worth a visit.
The laid back European cafe style makes Lowlander a vibrant place to visit in the evening. The staff are friendly and accomodating. The meat platters are a stroke of genius. Downsides? Well, Belgian beers are expensive and this bar can get horrifically busy at times. But other than that, not a lot. 9/10
I always thought Lowlander was a bar, but I guess they do some food as well so it's both. It's a real crush in here almost every night - weekends even more so - and to be honest if you haven't booked a table you'll be eating stood up.
Lowlander's much more of a drinking place I think - not enough room for anything else.
Lowlander is a great friendly bar serving an excellent selection of beers from Belgium and the Netherlands. Food is good solid stuff - exactly what is needed to soak up the booze. The stoemp saucisse is recommended. Great place to try out new and very odd but pleasant, fruity beers.
Have been a few times - the staff are friendly and knowledgeable and it gets busy but not unpleasantly so.
Only reason not given a 5 is that it would be even better if the menu changed a little more often and contained more authentic Belgian/Dutch food.
Overall - a great place to spend an evening!
A very pleasant bar with lots of European lagers and gimmicks to deliver them in unusual ways. Warm, pleasant and noisy. A bit smokey from those that wish to but otherwise a nice venue.
