Was planning a hen night in London & really wanted it to be special, a friend suggested Mahiki, I looked on the website & it looked good but so everything ran smoothly on the night I rang the club one afternoon to ask if we could get on the guest list to make sure we could get in, the girl said there would be no need we would definitely get in. I explained it was a hen night & asked her could she check with management that if the "hen" turned up in a veil would it be ok, she said if they don't want u to wear it they'll just tell u to take it off at the door, I said are u sure they won't turn us away because we are a hen party & she replied definitely not! However when we arrived on the night after planning it for ages, they said no hen nights! I explained to the man the security said was the owner and he said no we couldn't accomodate a big group, even though there were only 16 of us & on the phone I said there would be 30 of us just to be sure! I wouldn't mind if we was all dressed in tacky hen stuff, we all went classy & were wearing cream as our theme, the "hen" was just wearing a veil! I was so angry & dissapointed in Mahiki & the stupid girl who I bothered to speak to that obviosly doesn't know here job. But looking down these reviews it seems this happends here all the time, wish I had looked here & not wasted my time planning!
I have just had the misfortune of having my birthday at Mahiki's. Having paid out hundreds for a table of 8. When 2 of my guests left before 10pm they refused 2 of my guests entry who were made to wait for 2 hours. Why? I'm guessing because their face didn't fit. If they were some prozzie like tart they would have been let it like the blonde without ID so basically I spent my birthday trying to speak to the jumped up prick 'manager' aka door man and his Charlie's angel in her tatty fur coat. The girls toilets stunk of vomit and weren't cleaned despite me telling staff. Drinks took ages to be served at the table and the music was crap. Worst £400 spent DO NOT GO THERE if you value a good night out with your friends. They are the most arrogant door workers I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Very nice to you when they want your booking/money after that they create new rules and generally don't give a damn.
Think of Easy jet doing business class because that is just what Mahiki is. They should just put a massive orange Sign outside saying Mahiki/Easyjet. Its the low end class of the clubs in London. I bet Rhianna went here and thought to herself get me out of here but then thought "may as well stay and drink the free drinks as I don't want to go to the strip Club across the Road".
you only have to see the pic of Tara Palmer Tomkinson hiding her face with a bottle of (House Rum) on the website. I bet she wanted to beat the member of staff with the Rum Bottle after he snapped away at her. I bet she was running out of the club feeling sick after she had eaten a cheap flower off the Honey Moon cocktail thinking it was a bit of fruit!
Mahiki is not the best club in London, I have been to this club 3 times and twice we had a table. The security staff are rude and think as they work in Mayfair they are much better than the customers. The cocktails in the lounge are nice but they are rushed in the club. I would give the club a 3 out of 10 for cocktails and a 1 for customer service.
The toilets are dirty and the guy in the toilet is more interested in he's phone than giving you a towel to dry your hands. Reminds me of McDonald's!
Even if you have a table booked you are told to Que outside the club. The staff on the door let this club down the most.
At the end of the night I asked the staff for the postcode so I could book my driver to be told I cant be arsed to get you it. I had my friend tell me this club is 5th best club in the world. Maybe 5 years ago but not anymore. Don't go here if you want a classy night out with friends. If you want a basics range service and a meat market then go.
Went there last Saturday, was approched by the blonde thing with the clipboard asking if we had guestlist and telling us in a condescending voice we could not get in without it! I didn't think much of this on the night and was thinking of going there this saturday so emailed mahiki to ask about their guestlist policy and was advised that we do not require it! So now im confused as to what happened last week!! Reading these reviews it all now makes sense! We were all dressed up for a birthday night out so could not have been for that reason....group of four girls, also couldn't be for that reason....oh hang on two of us are coloured....hmmm bingo!
I agree this really needs to be addressed I can't believe it's been going on for so long and there has been no media coverage regarding this

Had a great night out at Mahiki! So many delicious cocktails and a good atmosphere. Loved the music and vibe of the crowd. I would definitely recommend a night out here.
Absolute rubbish! Don't bother! I don't usually write reviews but felt I had to. Went here on Saturday night with a group of girls for a birthday night out. We had a table booked, waited upstairs for an hour and a half, music up there was rubbish...... everyone looked completely miserable! Went downstairs for the table we had had booked, was shown to a table barely big enough to fit 4 at a squeeze, there were 8 of us.... When we tried to speak to the staff about it they were so RUDE!!! Basically told us to f**k off even though we were going to be paying for a table!! Our money obviously wasn't good enough for them, So we left to spend our money elsewhere! Seriously do not even bother, we went in with an open mind after reading all the bad reviews on here, but they are all true!!!
There is nothing good to say about this place, it is for people who want to be seen and that's all.
Went here on a monday night so wasn't expecting much, and I got less than I even expected! Incredibly overpriced drinks, and when paying nearly £15 for a cocktail I expect a good cocktail, not some substandard watered down drink. We were given free entry as we know someone who promotes, and it's clear why they need promoters as there isn't really a club feel to the place, it's just dull.
Definitely not going again
A friend was throwing his birthday here and after reading several bad reviews we decided to go with an open mind and make the most of it. Started off OK upstairs although the music was really rubbish and not what you'd want on a Saturday night. Drinks were overpriced and not very pleasent. We then made our way downstairs to our booked table, for more overly priced drinks. The music was awful, complete teenage disco cheese! With the likes of Justin beiber and one direction insulting our ears you really felt the holiday camp DJ was out to make everyone look like twats! The space got to crowded to the point we were squeezed around our table, which was not entirely a bad thing as we had girls hovering about trying to help themselves to our drinks. After a friend was pushed over by the same group of tarts trying to steal our drinks we decided to go.
I wouldn't recommend mahiki to anyone! It's a rubbish!
Arrived 15 minutes late for a pre booked table to be told your table has now gone so you can't get in....plus the rest of your party are intoxicated (I was on my own at that point with the others 2 minutes behind me) I can only assume that the jobs worth on the door was both incredibly dense but also making wild assumptions from a predetermined script. Turns out a list minute media visit of 70 had stuffed the numbers for that night....it also stuffed the pre-arranged plans for a group of 15 of mine. Merry Christmas...
DONT BOTHER! went last night with 3 girls and a guy aged 32 who have all spent thousands in there as work round corner. Lately the blonde girl on the door has turned into a door nazi. Despite it being a tuesday at 9.45 and hardly anyone in the queue, we were told it was full, even when we offered to pay the 1,400 table charge she again said there were no tables and we could not even go to the bar queue. Despite this she let in 2 young blonde girls after us who had actually been asking how much it cost to get in as they told us they had NO MONEY!Mahiki management need to sort out their door woman and realise that young girls may make the place LOOK good, but if you are turning away 1,400 minimum spend to let in teenagers who cant afford the entry fee never mind the drink prices. We will not be returning there, or bringing back clients ever gain so all in all Mahikis have lost out on thousands of potential spend all because they want to apear to be some glam hotspot but is basically full of z list celebs and young tarty girls trying to fling themselves at sleazy footballers. We went to Mahikis sister bar KANALOA in the city instead, and where greeted warmly went straight in and sat at a table without having to spend a min of 1,400. It is MUCH better then mahikis and people are more friendly and you feel like your not just there to be ripped off, if mahikis adopted the same door policy then kanaloa then they wouldn't be loosing so many reg customers due to their ridiculous door dolly bird.
Me and my sister when there last night and we had a great night! The club is amazing, all the bar staff are extremely friendly and the cocktails (especially the piña colada) are absolutely incredible. The only problem I have with this place is the people that actually go there. My sister accidentally tripped over some people at a table and when I tried to apologise all they did was shoo me away and told me to fuck off repeatedly! I can't say the same for everyone but the few that we came across were absolutely horrible people and unfortunately it has put us off going there again. All in all though, it is a fantastic club if you don't bump into to any of the upper class snobs that frequent there.
Best night of my life!!! Very welcoming lady on the door, and we were taken down to the Southern Comfort No Tell Motel karaoke room. My girls had the best night, they were singing and dancing all night long. The personal waiter was a bit of a hunk, and definitely entertained us throughout the evening. Can't wait to go back and visit in the new year.
Had an excellent night out. booked a table through there marketing team. everything was well run and the staff are very charming including the waitresses!! definitely recommend going there on a night out. have been nearly every week since my first visit!! cant say enough about this place!! don't read any of the comments below it has changed massively!
By far the worst club in london, dark dank and dismal, over inflated egos working on the doors, only interested in minor celebrities, go some where else if your looking for a good night out, even the royals don't bother with it anymore!!! ;)
Mahiki is a disgrace to the tiki bar culture. The welcome was verging on hostile. Although we got in, some of our friends that we were meeting were refused entry without being given a reason, despite the bar being half empty. The door policy is anything but "open" as they claim in their PR blurb.
The drinks were ok, but the place lacked atmosphere, the sound system was poor and the DJ amateur. Mahiki certainly doesn't live up to the press release claims. It is a hollow shell built on hype
It seems like it is run by those who can afford to pay publicists to label them as "socialites" despite them having little experience outside of organising the odd ra-ra jolly in a Pimms tent at Henley.
Might be ok for entertaining corporate clients, but otherwise avoid!
Hi. I am very disappointed with Mahiki's admin. I invited a couple of guests on a friday night and tried to book in the morning of friday. I was told by the 'event manager' that they don't operate a guest list and I should just come to the door. I also called a couple of hours before time to confirm availability and was told they could accommodate. I arrived with my guests. At the door, I was told that the venue has been booked out for an event and we could not go. This is the most ridiculous club experience Ive had, and Ive been to a fair few. Such rubbish admin is not expected of even the most basic of clubs. There was no mention of any event on their website or anything. If they lied, it was highly unprofessional of them and if they really dint know of the event happening, it was quite silly.
Went on Monday night for their signature Mahiki Monday night. We arrived at 10.45pm and there was already a massive queue outside, but the door girl and men hurried the people through quickly and without any hassle which was really positive.
Once inside we went to the bar and had a few cocktails. The bartender was so chatty and friendly, and he put on this crazy little show with fire over our cocktaisl, it was insane!
We then went downstairs, it was pretty packed, but we still managed to have an amazing dance around!
All in all an amazing night and i will definitely be coming back again!

Great club, great music but ridiculous and irrational staff! Went to Mahiki for a friends birthday, was waiting at the bar to be served and all of a sudden somebody lifted me up from behind, clean off the floor and threw me out! To my horror it was a bouncer who couldn't explain why he had manhandled me like a gorilla and wouldn't let me back in. Very unhappy and to be honest could probably have sued. Definate night ruiner.
I would give 0 stars if I could.
One word. Racist.
Longer story than it is possible to post but the main points are below.
Turned up with a friend at 8pm, no queue outside and were told that only large parties were being seated by the lovely and charismatic (not) blonde lady at the door. They then let two people come up from behind us walk straight in when they said they 'just wanted to go to the bar'. I asked why that had happened and she ignored the question and repeated that they would not let us in.
The two girls they let in were white and had jeans on!
My friend and I are both black, middle-class and were wearing dresses and heels.
I have come to the conclusion that this place is racist. Me and a friend (both black caribbean women) went there yesterday, dressed for the occasion in dresses and heels around 9pm and were however refused entry. We were asked if it was only us two and the guy at the door seemed puzzled as about what to say/do. He then brang out another guy who asked if we had any reservations...we said no, we e-mailed the club in advance and were told to just show up. He then brang out a blonde girl who then made up some bull**** story about how they are having a massive party that night and are tight on space so there is nothing she can do... This was just ridiculous considering they allowed two white girls wearing jeans without asking any questions whilst we were left waiting....
Absolutely rubbish. The blonde girl at the door at thd door was so rude, what a power trip. The place was awful, DO NOT go there! The blonde girl thought she was special, heres some honest advice, you aint! Im a investment banker and im used to high profile people being snobby but at least they can live up to it, enjoy your £7 ph.
Similar problem to a lot of other people who have written reviews. The club is overpriced, with a double vodka coming in at £10. A large group of us went for a friend's birthday. She had a guestlist (yes, Mahiki does have one but you have to ring them up and then contact a promoter) and for all the girls, many of whom had been drinking at the pub next door and were already drunk, it was easy to get in. However, three of the boys in the group, who had only had one pint before entering the queue, were turned away, because apparently they were "too drunk", by a very snobby and prententious woman on the door (many others have commented already on her horrendous attitude).
My three male friends were told they would be able to come into the club in half an hour after they had sobered up. This was a paradox in itself, because they weren't even drunk. In the meantime, many drunk men with Mahiki cards entered free of charge in the opposite queue, another big problem with the club. My friends returned and were still denied entry despite having waited for over an hour with the security team knowing they hadn't had another drink. This absurd attitude and poor quality of staff makes this place an absolute no go for excellent customer service. The one plus point is the original decor. That is it.
One more thing - useless DJ. The music sounded like it was being played off an iPod plugged into some speakers. DO NOT GO HERE. IT IS A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY.
Fab Friday night. Had read reviews and was concerned about the negative comments... however, rolled up at 11.30ish and although the female on the door was a bit sniffy, the queue was short and we went straight in. We were two, over 25 females, but we were dressed well.
Really great music, fab atmosphere and really enjoyed it. Will go again.
Had a friends birthday booked into their motel room and was very pleasantly surprised to find it was everything as expected, quirky, lots of fun, fantastic drinks, a mahiki bed, and to top it off karaoke in the shower! my friends and i had a great night in this new party room, and for the 20 of us all night for just over £1k definitely worth the money as we had our own personal waiter who came in and out of the smeg fridge, music from the club whenever we wanted, and karaoke as loud as we want all night!if you want a different experience and have a fab celebration definitely check it out, as they were incredibly friendly and made my friends birthday such a fun one with no hassles!
To be honest I didn't get into the place to really judge the venue, so this review is based more on one particular staff member! The young lady at the front door, she is absolutely stunning but shes has an appalling attitude & a foul temper.I found her extremely patronizing and rude.
We called the day before to book a table for some drinks before 9pm; we was even willing to pay the minimum to book to table. We was told as long as we arrived before 9pm we would be guaranteed a table, but it turned out someone had double booked tables that night and everything was full. Of course am upset we didn't get in, but I was more upset at how that woman handled our predicament. Anyway I suggest you go somewhere else, or make sure you book a table no matter what!
Absolutely pathetic and rude staff. The chick at the entrance with the lists is completely rude and on a power trip. Three of us went -2 ladies and me and we weren't allowed to get in despite the fact that the place was empty. Rascist attitude at the peak. Let poorly dressed people in but not us for no apparent reason. Truly disastrous place completely not in touch with the London culture. That woman at the entry needs to realise that she is in the hospitality business.
me and my friend accidentally stumbled upon it last Saturday and got in straight away. we loved the atmosphere and the bar staff were very friendly and ever knew some geography. we danced all night and had absolutely amazing time. cant wait to go back!
Went to Mahiki last night (14/5) for my 29th birthday, had a great night, the venue is really nice and the music is goodhowever. I contacted Mahiki before we went last week infact, asking if we could go on guestlist and was told that Mahiki does not operate a guestlist, though when my friends arrived.(not sure if theres a guestlist for the actual club and not the bar?!) they were told they were the last people coming in on my guestlist. Erm I didn't have one, as you don't operate one?! Anyway, buying drinks, I don't normally go out in London because of the prices, but £52 for 4 drinks?! Seriously?! And the optional service charge is not optional, either that or the bar staff don't know what optional means, so buy your drinks at the bar. If that makes any difference?! I had a good night there all in all, but the above is just some points for people who haven't been before what to expectthe crowd in there seemed good, not what I was expecting to be honest on previous reviews I was expecting a bunch of wanabee wags. Places I would avoid in London because of the pretentious behaviour some people have in London
Had a girlfriends birthday the other week on Friday, as we got to Mahiki, we saw a very long queue, but it didnt take long to get in, one of the managers came out to have a chat with everyone in the queue. Once we got to the front, the door girl let the 6 of us in with ease. Inside, we tried out the different cocktails, our favourite was the pina colada in actual pineapples and my friend won a flamingo fizz on their very cool wheel of fortune!
We loved the music, one minute dolly parton, the next kings of leon, definitely a great mix. Bartenders were all dressed quirky, a few very cute ones!Love the fact theres two floors, as we could chat and mingle in their lounge, and downstairs was definitely a great party atmosphere!we ended up staying till the end, and will definitely be heading down again very soon, especially after we were told about their new food menu!
It was a nice night for me, cuz i got in... i just feel like the staff just look for opportunities to be assholes... like if u go in a group of 20... they will look for at least 2 people that they wont let in... Bouncer was an absolutely ridiculous woman who kept chattering about how young we looked even though we all had the necessary identification to show otherwise... there were two guys in our group that were the same age as us and they didn't let them in because 'they looked too young'... Honestly it was a decent night... problem: expensive... and thats one of the reasons ill never go back there... the other is the absolutely ridiculous 'door people' who think they are some sort of... Cerberus people... guarding the gates of hell or something
Didn't get in after lady on the door said that we looked too intoxicated! We had a table booked and arrived half an hour early. Lady on door asked where we had been and I told her aqua and sketch which we only had a couple of drinks in each. She obviously just didn't like the look of us. Glad really because we managed to get a couple of tables at Bungalow 8 and had a fantastic night in a nice place, with nice people and friendly staff that obviously didn't think we were too intoxicated.
always enjoy a good mahiki night. can get very busy though so always try and get a table if possible.
I had heard good things about this place so i thought i would check it out for my birthday party. I booked a table and got there really early to avoid ques, i got in however they would not let my friends in saying that it was too full, even though it was half empty and i had booked a table! drinks are more expensive than on the website, all in all i would avoid this place and go somewhere else if you dont want your night ruined.
Well, me and a birthday group of 20 were thoroughly let down! We had booked a table, booked a treasure chest, got a guestlist and had put £100 behind the bar. We didn't even get in! They said our guestlist didn't exist, then that was changed to "we've closed that guestlist" we were all outside! No had been in on the guestlist! The bouncers were very unhelpful and rude, not to mention hideously racist! Eventually me and 2 other girls from our group got in, but they wouldn't let the boys in as they were "intoxicated" (they had had one pre-drink!) Inside, not worth it! It was like 2 levels of rubbishy cocktail bar (the cheapest being £9!) Because not all of our guests were inside, we couldn't access our treasure chest or the money behind the bar. Mahiki is probably amazing if your super duper rich, but for a night out its really rubbish and not worth it. Massive let down. We went on to Tigertiger in lecister square which was amazing!
Absolute rubbish. Stuff are rude, there is no
Such thing as a good night in this place. People only go there if they want they're ace shown. Cocktails aren't even good and the atmosphere is dull. Not worth the effort.
Come to Mahiki quite a few times, and even as the new year has begun still doesnt disappoint! They have great theatre acts, with free shots, and limbo!?!?! Came down with a group of guys, and they loved it, not pretentious at all, and they're definitely coming down for another boys nights out! Very pretty girls and guys inside, with the best bar staff!
If you're asian don't bother going here, you won't get in. we were a group of 6 girls, but they said they were full at 11pm on a wednesday with no queue outside. and then simultaneously let in 2 english girls quoting the entry price to them.
