I reckon they must have new staff because I went on wednesday and there was a bloke on the door!! He was really nice as were all the staff inside. I went with friends from Paris a couple of weeks ago as well who had a really good time, the girl on the door that time was wonderful. There was a long wait because we got there quite late but she kept us up to date with our progress and chatted to us loads, and let a friend pop in to use the toilet. I would advise going early to avoid the que. Even so, I am very surprised at the bad experience other people seem to have had. Drinks are delicious and a really fun atmosphere, have nothing bad to say about the staff.
I visted Mahiki the last few saturdays and have had a fanatastic time! No problems at the door (but we were a group of blondes) polite staff in and outside danced and drank all night. My one criticism is drinks can take while keep up the good work!!
This was my first time at the club. I got in with no problems and at first impression the club was quite nice we sat down and drank cocktails. I decided to go upstairs for some air as it is quite confined downstairs and stuffy. Then the lady who was doing the door picking decided not to let me back in as apparently she overheard me ( over all the noise of the people outside) being rude about her. The poor doorman clearly wanted to over rule her but could not. She is a clear example of a bitter, chip on the shoulder power tripping door picker with no idea of what she is doing! Seriosuly paranoid and i am guessing Single for sure! She was actually laughable how bad she is at her very EASY job! Anyway i had to get all my friends to leave who had a table and spent a fortune. Do not trust this club until they have got rid of the very THICK girl on the door.
Hostess at door is unprofessional, rude, Patronising, on A power trip and needas to Realise That upsetting guests mean they Won't return as well as Creating bad publicity for the bar, especially when the guest is A pr guru! Stupid woman - I demanded a refund for all drinks we hadnt yet touched because some of our friends were not allowed in because apparently the bar was full! In actual fact the place was half empty! Ridiculous. I got my friends and we left. She lost the club money, was rude to everyone and told me off for touhing the rope outsiode! Absolutely patheitc and she really should be sacked. Mr Manager - if you read this, you really should reconsider who you hire to on the door! Big shame because the bar, jusic is great and the bar staff areso friendly, and professional unlike their hostess at the door.
Having been to Mahiki several times and on every occassion had had a really fun evening, I decided to return for my birthday this year. BIG MISTAKE!! Myself and 6 friends got in fine at about 9pm, bar staff were excellent and allocated me a huge table. However, at about 9.45 some other friends arrived and were not allowed in! I went up to explain that they with my party etc.. but the woman on the door was having none of it.She was rude, obnoxious, patronising and kept insisting that she didnt have the "walking space" for my guests - 5 people!! The silly woman said that I didnt have a table reservation where you have to spend a minimum of £800! I said I didnt have a reservation but bar staff gave me a table. She said that the bar staff do not control the door! After trying to reason with her and having to listen to her pathetic power trip I decided to go and demand a refund for the 6 cocktials we hadn't touched and leave. Bar staff were fantastic and apologised for the chaos and refunded us. We left. Nightmare. She ruined my birthday and was soooo rude and nasty. There was absolutely no reason for her to not let my guests in. The bar was empty and there was no queue. Shame because I really liked this place but will not be going anywhere near it ever again. MAHIKI SHOULD REVIEW THEIR DOOR STAFF! Horrible person!
There’s not really a point in reviewing a place like this – it does exactly as promised- deliver a proper w**kfest of nobbyness and if you like that sort of thing, you will love this place. I guess the really sad thing about this bar like this is that some people actually like this sort of place. The drinks are relatively nice, the decor is a bit fun, the service was not quite as obnoxious as one may expect and the vibe seemed quite friendly – although the music was dreadful – a mix of pop and lift music. The truth is, it’s more like a theme bar in Sheffield or a novelty bar in a expensive hotel in Bulgaria – just with rich people. I guess if you care about seeing celebs, if you want people’s attention drawn to you by the fact your drink is pricey enough to warrant a sparkler this place is right up your street. If you’re not really a fan of such things it’s a bit disappointing. I’d hoped to see something a bit more extreme and extravagant, a little more distasteful, notably digusting things and perhaps some wonderfully special things - instead it’s all a bit nicer and more pleasant than I hoped, so much so, there’s just no need to go check out what all the fuss is about.
I travel a lot with the magazine i work for and so have been to number of clubs, bars etc. all over the place. London i think has the best to offer in terms of reliable nightlife everyday of the week. However, Mahikis was terrible, don't bother. Funky dudha or even an old pub beats this shamble. Bad music, hot, unreliable, rude and terrible staff, many girls/woman looking for free drinks, were harassed a number of times by older business men that just wouldn't give up, when you found some younger people they were snobs that preferred spending loads of cash on drinks to chating or dancing, prices were ok for the drink you got, some good cocktails and the chest was an expirience, although the cost of thingschanged many times over the night. Overall it's a shame i can't put lower than a 1star.
Absolutely 100% Crap. Don't bother!
