We spotted this restaurant when out and about in London last week. We fancied a changed and having had Moroccan food before we were looking forward to a lovely tasty dinner at the Maison Touareg. The place looked authentic, nice furnishings etc, but the food was terrible. We ordered one beef and one chicken Tagine at around £15 a dish which is not cheap. First the portions were tiny. My husband had 4 tiny pieces of beef in his beef tagine and I had 2 small pieces of chicken. Both were tasteless and dry. Then came the portion of cous cous which was a small cupful. We were so disappointed! To top it all up they slapped a 12% service charge too. I would not recommed this place at all...

Went to Maison Touareg on Saturday night and it was brilliant, great fun. Few friends from work decided to go to Maison Touareg on the off chance and we weren't disappointed. Food was very tasty especially tagine of lamb and pastilla, we tried some Lebanese wine which to our surprise was very pleasant. Topped off with a beautiful dancer you must go its well worth it!

I went to dinner here with my friend last Saturday night. Atmosphere was great. Comfy couches. Service was ok too. But was extremely disappointed with the food. Having seen the menu on line before hand and the prices, I was expecting great food with fresh ingredients. I wasn't impressed by the olives. Hummus tasted like it was out of a packet drizzled with extra oil. For the main I ordered Moussaka which I was so looking forward to as it's my favourite dish, but instead got what looked like a chickpea curry with very little aubergine which was very greasy and tasteless, with rice that was either undercooked or re-heated in the microwave: it was crunchy. The salad also had some sort of greasy white dressing which was tasteless too. My friends salad and rice was exactly the same. Overall the food isn't great for the price you pay.

I was not sure whether or not I should go to Maison Touareg having read some of the reviews. However I booked my girlfriends birthday party and was glad I did, the food (we ordered from a set menu) was delicious and there was plenty of it. The service was polite and friendly and the real treat was the belly dancer who was beautiful. Will definitely go back. Just wanted to say a big thanks for staff for singing happy birthday nice touch!

I went to Maison Touareg last Saturday. I've booked a table for my fiance and I to celabrate my birthday. First of all the restaurant is much better and bigger on their website than is real life. The food was tasteless, cold, salty and portion was very small. There was this Belly dancer, well I should say boobies dancer she only could shake her fake boobs in everybody's face and could dance at all! The service was shit. My overall experience was really frustrating as I wanted everything to be perfect. Well I wouldn't recommend Maison Touareg to anybody. Stay away from Maison Touareg.

I booked a party for friday 21st may 2010. My guests were not happy with the customer service and the food. I had shisha before 7:30pm. It was not very nice either. The pipes were dirty. When I smoked there was dark brown stuff coming out of the plastic nozzel of the pipe. The water kept going in my mouth. I had it for 15mins and gave up. The waiter changed the water and it was a little better after but not great. Anyway so I went down to my party area at 8pm. I told the manager there that the shisha was crap! He appologised. I was charged £16 for a disgusting shisha that I smoked for say 20mins max or not even. At about 8:30ish I asked the waiters to bring the food for half of us as some of my guests were running late. The manager downstairs didnt look very happy but then agreed after a while. The rest of my guests came anyway so I asked them to bring all the food. The starters were very nice. But most of us were vegetarian so it was not enough for everyone. Infact it was not enough for 10 people the food. I had to tell the waiters to bring more food. The waiter brought one falafel bowl between 10 of us. The humus came but no pita bread was brought until after 15mins of eating and it was when I asked them to bring it. The service was slow and my guests had ordered water ages ago and did not come. I had to get up and nudge the waiter after the main course came. Infact I was running the staff. I told them that they should now bring the main food. I also told them the starters were not enough for everyone and they need to bring some more. They brought one-two bowls of each dish for 10 people! Falafels one bowl. I mean it was terrible. Not one waiter or manager downstairs asked me how the food was or how is the party going. The main course was terrible too. Boiled veg. Tasteless! The only perfect bit was the belly dancer. My birthday totally ruined.

I decided to make a reservation for my in-laws 10th wedding anniversary based on the reviews I read on trip advisor. And I am so glad that I did! Maison Touareg did everything perfectly starting with my first phone call. After I made my reservation, which they were kind enough to ask me if it was a special occasion and made a note on my reservation of my in-laws first names and the fact that it was their 10th anniversary, they sent me an email confirmation immediately. I called to make a change to my reservation and again they followed up with an email, without me even asking. When we arrived that night our table was ready and waiting on us complete with rose petals and a card to my in-laws congratulating them on their 10th anniversary! The food was fantastic! Amazing steaks and the sides were huge and delicious! The atmosphere was perfect for a restaurant such as this. Lighting was great and the tables were far enough apart and roomy enough that you can enjoy your meal and your dining companions. Days after we dined they called me to see how we liked everything and to get any feedback I might have! I mean, Maison Touareg is very good. And more. Highly recomended

We went to Maison Touareg last night and had an unsatisfactory experience.

Firstly, the waitress forgot the pitta bread with our starters. Okay, that's an easy mistake to make and we could have pointed it out earlier but we just thought that they didn't serve bread with the starters. When we got our bread, we only had a little bit of moussaka left.

We were only half-way through our main course when the man who seemed to be the owner, or maître d’ placed our bill on the table.

We were dining outside at a pavement table. Towards the end of our main course, two staff members told us they needed to swap our table for a different, larger one because they needed our small table inside. I don't mean they wanted us to move; they physically swapped the table. However, they'd already taken away our table, leaving my girlfriend holding her plate before they thought to say, "Oh, I'm sorry, madam. Were you still eating?" The table they replaced it with wasn't much larger than the one they removed. They also took away our remaining pitta bread.

When we mentioned all of this to the maître d’ while paying he said that they swapped the table for us because he saw that we had a small table and he wanted us to have a better one. I don't believe that for a second because it contradicted what the other staff said and they changed it at the very end of the meal, not the beginning. The maître d’ had the opportunity to apologise and
repair the situation but he failed.

Whilst paying, he handed me the card machine and said if I wanted to add a tip, to press the appropriate button and enter the amount. Presumably, he hoped we hadn't noticed there was already a 10% service charge added to the bill, which I felt like refusing to pay. However, that would only have affected the waitress with whom I had no gripe. So I decided to review the restaurant instead.

Thankfully the food was better than the service but didn't make up for it. We won't be going back.

Went to Maison Touareg last Saturday , booked a table for 6, the service was good and the food delicious, I was a bit sceptic after reading the reviews here, but a friend of mine recommended it and I decided to try it. No regrets at all, and I will definitely be coming back, will choose a Friday or a Saturday to enjoy the belly dancer show!

Went to this restaurant on friday. DO NOT GO THERE!!!!!!!!. This is the worst restaurant I have been to in my life. Firstly they brought over a different drink to what I had ordered, I thought "never mind, just a mistake I'll just drink it". The service was awful,we ordered 4 main courses, all to which came with couscous. The rude waitress only brought over 3 portions of couscous, when we asked for the other portion she asked if we could not just share 3. When I said we would like another portion she called the manager over, who grudgingly got us another one.

By the time that came my VERY SMALL PORTION of lamb tagine had gone cold. When we asked for the bill,we had to ask 3 different members of staff. We were charged a 10% service charge (what a joke), then they did not even bring our change, just assuming we would give them a tip. My only tip is NEVER EAT AT THIS RESTAURANT!

Went for a friends birthday last week. The service was absolutely appalling, the first drinks took around 30 minutes, the waiter was rude and totally uninterested, we had to sit down stairs where the tables are the same height as the seats so you had to stoop over the table to eat - this area turns into a bar later - so is obviously designed for drinking and relaxing and not eating! The food is very basic and not presented well - it's not disgusting but nothing that would make you go back. To top it off there was a huge puddle by the loos that you had to wade through to get to the toilets. As with bad meal you can usually get through it by drinking and making the most of it - but the service was sooo poor you almost felt afraid to ask for a drink and when you do pluck up the courage it takes 30mins anyway so all in all we had 3 drinks, not really enough to get you in the party spirit. If this hasn't changed your mind and you do decide to go there - make sure you sit upstairs, drink wine (by the bottle - so you can top it up yourself) and bring your wellies!

Just had a great evening here we shared starters of Tabbouleh/falafel both were lovely.

Then onto Cous-Cous Royal/Tagine Lamb yet again empty plates.

After a respectable break we managed to share a plate of Maghrebine Pastries with Mint tea for me, a liqueur coffee for him.

We then sat there and finished an excellent bottle of red wine which was indeed the most expensive on the list but worth every penny.

Danced with the belly dancer, paid our bill of £80.00 thanked the lovely staff who were, friendly helpful and discrete.

Who even when busy still managed to give people time to relax and enjoy the lovely food and great atmosphere.

All in all a great restaurant food staff etc . As we had a train to catch back to the South Coast we had to leave early (just before ten) so I am afraid that I can't comment on the down stairs bar as it was a bit early for any thing to be happening, though there were a few people down there having a drink .

Our thoughts on the place GREAT would we go back YES

Simply fantastic. As soon as me and my group of friends walked in, we were immediately greeted with a cheery waiter and seated immediately to our liking! They told us our menu options and recommended some foods not simply for money, but genuinely because they were delicious. They didn't pressure us to hurry, and the waiter looked out for us and kept asking if we wanted anymore food. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming - a real morrocan atmosphere with authentic decor as well as well-cooked morrocan food, fresh and tasty. The food was served quickly so we didn't have to wait, and the toilets were cleaner than most restaurants. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone with a zest for something new, and a zeal for a wonderful evening out!

Yet another shoddy tourist trap. Over priced middle of the road, cheap food served in plastic bowls in an environment sufficiently
"atmospheric" that it's difficult to know when was the last time the place had a good spring clean. Hang onto your greenbacks, you can do better!

For the first experience we went to the restaurant to have dinner before the theatre. We got a friendly welcome, got seated quickly and were given a starter/main course options. The food was lovely and the service was very fast and in time the restaurant was full up. We were also offered sweets and mint tea and we finished happy and would advise everyone to try this restaurant.

Wow, this is what dining should be about. At the Maison Touaregue you genuinely feel like you are thrown into North Africa - the decor is sensational and, I presume, authentic.

The food is very tasty indeed and there's such a relaxed atmosphere to the place that you are instantly made to feel at home. I'm already looking forward to visiting Maison Touaregue once again.
